Just finished cleaning up my latest addition from eBay, a circa-1920 Waterman's Ideal 452 1/2V.

Hard black rubber with a sterling silver overlay. It has a fine nib with a little flex and a nice bit of bounce. It's a miniature pen at just under 4 inches long, but feels nicely balanced when posted and is a lovely writer.

I've replaced the ink sac and given it a good clean and polish, but it's in great condition and didn't need much more than that.

Suggestions for inks are very welcome!

My favourite is Diamine Sargasso Sea. It's vivid and stands out, but it's "normal" enough to use in professional situations.

It's also an exact colour match for my daily driver pen (Pineider Avatar UR in ultramarine), which is a big plus point.

Diamine Aurora Borealis is a beautiful teal. Celadon Cat is also worth considering if you like shading, although it's much paler.

It's not a blog, but you could try the Pendemic Discord: https://discord.gg/pendemic

I'm really hoping this community builds up, though, as I'm not a huge fan of Discord as a discussion board. I really need to post my collection and start contributing!

I never knew that! Certainly puts a different spin on that template.

Start slower than you think you need to - not just in terms of pace but also weekly mileage and number of sessions. If you're already fairly fit it's easy to underestimate the strain running can put on your joints and ligaments, and that could lead you to do too much too soon and end up injured. Build up slowly and prioritise recovery.

Outside of that I think it's important not to overthink too much. It's easy to fall down the rabbit hole of stressing about minor differences in shoes, or tracking your heart rate zones, or energy gels, or any number of other things. If you're generally in good health, just run and enjoy it, and the rest will come later. Have fun!

A couple of obscure dark fantasy movies: Legend, which is an old Ridley Scott film with Tim Curry and Tom Cruise, and Ladyhawke, with Rutger Hauer and a very young Mathew Broderick. Cheesy but both surprisingly enjoyable!

Morning! Still getting to grips with the shift to Lemmy from Reddit but a week in I'm feeling much more at home. It took a while to find an app that felt like a good fit, but WefWef seems to be fitting the bill very nicely.

This morning is recovery after pizza and 80s movie night with friends.

Always lurked on Reddit but happy to be counted as active on Lemmy!
