I've lived in a range of population centers, from mid sized towns of about 30k, to cities in the millions, and now in a small town of 5k spread through the entire valley. Its different strokes for different folks. The city was nice with lots of things to keep me occupied, but I could barley afford to do anything because my tiny apt cost 2.5k a month. Cities would be great if the CoL was addressed. Smaller towns on the other hand offer me plent of unspoiled nature to explore and a tighter knit sense of community while allowing me to live comfortably.

Each has its benefits and generalizing one side or the other doesn't do it justice.

I lived there and made $90k a year. Lived like 50 minutes from work, still paid $2.5k per month for a 500sqft studio and qualified as low income for the area. If people making that much are considered low income, something has failed.

Just fulinished A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge. Didn't enjoy as much as A Fire Upon the Deep, but it was still a good space opera. Some uncomfortable sex scenes though.

I use GigaRapid, andnive got no complaints so far. Good speeds, wish I had more storage space, but a lot of their options were sold out when I signed up

Yes, as long as that service is "creative" or "artistic" in nature

He reactivated the Florida State Guard. The samekingd of State Guard utilized by like 22 other states including California and New York. The FSG was created way before DeSantis came to office.

Can you point me to that paper? Google only turns up results stating that if we burned all fossil fuels on the planet we'd hit 10°C

Those 100 corporations make materials that everyone else uses (mostly O&G) and the consumption and use of those materials (by we the consumers) is responsible for 71% of GHG emissions. It's not just 100 companies burning coal for funsies

Be careful, you're wandering awfully close to eco-facist talking points

Being able to run video games or other hardware intensive process would either require pricey hardware or they'd be streamed from a cloud service (which comes with a whole other bundle of issues to consider) as that computational power has to come from something physical somewhere. Offloading your OS to the cloud wouldn't affect that. PCs can already be accessed by phone if you have the right set up (dedicated IP hosting and a VPN) As for saving data in case of emergencies, we already have cloud based storage solutions that wouldn't be impacted by cloud based OS.

There is 0 reason to use a cloud based OS other than making sure people are tied to your service for the life of their computer. This feels like a solution to a problem no one has.
