Ok so this whole thread has me tripping about...cars. Like, I know the statistics, but my son will be driving daily to school for the first time starting in August, has only been driving occasionally since last year and I am so not ready 🤪

I love where I live (semi rural/woods) for the peace and quiet and low COL but between being 15 min from town and the terrain (Appalachia) it is impossible to not drive everywhere.

I just finished watching the show class of 09 and it really freaks me out. If you want to have a panic attack about a runaway AI ruling law enforcement enjoy!

It was available prior to 1985 in the US and then briefly back in 87/88 before being banned again. Been around since the early 1900's. So not rushed at all 🤪

Not sure about Australia though. In 87 I had opportunity to experience pharmaceutical MDMA and it was the most amazing experience ever.

I always check for OP replies because that's the fun part! If no OP engagement I usually move on. Also, great comment.

I ate way too many roasted chickpeas the first time I did it too. They're so good. Another good thing in the corn department is to buy a can of hominy. It kind of tastes like the corn nuts snack you can buy at the store. So good

In 1988 when I was in hair school and instructor was diagnosed with HIV and was fired. He wasn't allowed to do hair anymore either. Lost his job and cosmetology license. Wasn't allowed to touch people. We weren't even allowed to talk about it. HIV and AIDS were running rampant and it was buried for years. People were treated as lepers. Wasn't until a young boy was infected from a blood transfusion that they even took it somewhat seriously. Only 35 years ago.

Had a friend who died from AIDS in 1992 that was infected from a breast implant surgery and tons of folks wouldn't go to her funeral!

We can cherry pick the hell out of their bible and start refusing so much because most "Christians" aren't following most of Jesus's teaching anyway. Hate, hypocrisy, greed and judgmental jerks is what I see constantly. So sick and tired of these assholes

Quick and fast paced reads for me are anything by John Sanford, Michael Connelly and Archer Mayor. Usually finish them in 4-5 hours

Weaveworld is another great one! Actually any Clive Barker book is great to me. Mister B. Gone it's probably my favorite quick read by him.

I actually read it in 2 weeks. It gripped me in a way that any free time, I was reading it. Every meal, break and bathroom trip 🤪 I sometimes struggle with fantasy stories because it's hard for me to picture the world they are set in. Clive has a way of creating worlds that when you're done reading the book, it takes a while for me to process that world doesn't actually exist somewhere.

I have seen more people with different ideologies beliefs and opinions have actual discussions and civil debates here since I joined then I have anywhere in a long time. I feel safe to comment and share my opinions because even if someone were to disagree and share a different opinion, I know I am not going to get a barrage of mean and hateful replies and messages.

Prior to 2015, I had friends from many walks of life. Sometimes we'd have some heated discussions, but no one was yelling, being racist, spewing hate etc.

Since 2016, most of my conservative friends actively eliminated everybody who did not think like them. It was mind-boggling how many people I knew asked who I voted for and if it wasn't for Trump they let me know I was no longer welcome to be their friend. I didn't even vote for Hillary and yet it was extremely difficult to even convince them of that. They forgot that there were other people running in the race apparently.

I think if you stick around long enough you will see many viewpoints and discussions here.
