I'm in a similar boat with the deleting old accounts and not leaving sensitive material in vulnerable access. I started my privacy journey after learning how much more invasive social media platforms really are, beyond the content you do or don't upload. Keyboard tracing, tracking other apps on your device, tilt/motion sensors, tiktok's famous "biometric data" mining that even they can't seem to explain, and probably even worse than that goes far beyond protecting sensitive files, at least for me. On my end, I especially enjoy finding open-source services/products from freelance creators for cheap or even free and supporting the development of small businesses in some way. In the end, there is no real way to be completely private, only more or less private and I suppose it's up to individual comfort zones for the most part. I'd say do what's most comfortable and efficient for you and if that means not caring too much about it then that's a valid option too 👍

I'm sad for the hidden gems of smaller communities that I loved but couldn't move to lemmy/didn't know about lemmy or generally rely on mass platforms to get the action going being so small. I hope one day they migrate.

It's pretty cool so far. Takes some getting used to, little buggy here and there, but nothing intolerable. People are more respectful on here. On reddit and most all other platforms, I just lurked for the most part to avoid getting "aKsHuAlLy'D" by some angry poster. It's chill here and it's got potential ^-^
