I agree and disagree. That is the question you ask. That is not how you start a conversation. I'm not assuming corruption. Some of them I've generally agree with in the past, maybe I will this time, this was an important vote, it's going to be difficult to convince me.

I know being tricked is a possibility. It's politics. Sometimes you got got. That sucks, you live another day. You get got (tricked) enough, I lose my faith.

But of course the fucked up thing is, we're debating Democrat representatives. It's a whole extra level of fucked up that Republican representatives just get a pass. The ole, I know you're a piece of shit so of course you're terrible and voted against it.

Again I don't want to excuse bad actions, but also let's not ignore the shitty actions of those known to be shitty. It's an important reality to be aware of.

Because a number of them have a good track record.

It's not a free pass and I'll likely still criticize them, but I'm willing to give them a moment to explain.

Also, none of these representatives are my representative, my representative did accurately represent me. So for others, I'll give them a moment to explain.

Ginsberg had a specific and nuanced legal argument that essentially came down to, a law should be passed to clarify the right to abortion. Ginsberg was pro choice. However as a judge and Supreme Court Justice she had a specific and nuanced opinion, but ultimately believed Roe v Wade provided the correct answer, but how it got there did have some shakey legal ground.

Because it's bad if China has the information. It's fine if "US entity" had the information. The ban is ultimately fake. No one banning the app cares about TikTok, they just hate that China is getting the information they want. What will happen is some US based company, Oracle last time, but someone like that will buy a sufficient enough stake in the company and the ban will not happen. It will be declared "safe" and the data will go to a US controlled entity, but also still secretly to China. (The later will be revealed years later, to the shock of no one.)

My assumption for those who didn't vote is that they were not in DC at the time.

Now why they were not in DC should be the focus. For example did the speaker pull some shenanigans? Did the representative attend something that felt was more important?

I'm not going to justify the action, but I'm curious if they put out a statement to try and explain it. I think we all know political speak and can see through it.
