I'm giving it a try since I'm a bit annoyed that some of my regular subreddits are still blacked out, even though it's clear spez has his fingers stuck in his ears and his head stuck a mile deep up his ass. As someone who exclusively uses reddit in browser and doesn't run any bots, the API drama doesn't move me too much, and now I just want things there to return to normal.

That said, I'm totally sold on the idea of the fediverse, so I'll probably stick around now that I've taken the step of signing up here. Though I'm not about to abandon reddit completely just yet.

Lemmy's web frontend definitely is a bit bloated and janky for my taste. It's a beta version, bugs are to be expected. But I'd much prefer a lightweight frontend with a compact layout and minimal javascript, more like old reddit.

Technology can be used by anyone for good or evil regardless of the morality of the creator.

Even if the devs were literal Nazis, someone could just hard fork the software, and everyone could switch and continue on with their day. That's why free software is beautiful.
