I think you are expecting too much from these stories. This crux of HHGTTG is situational humor. Arthur is set up to have no clue and bumble through. Zafod is a narcissist. Ford is Ford. Having them grow takes away from their ability to contribute to the type of humor that is the objective. It's like saying Mr Bean skills have gotten smarter.
I'm convinced that he didn't expect Dems to vote or McCarthy. Not to be insensitive, what they are going through is terrible, but more what? The US Secretary of State is over in Israel now. Are they expecting a US invasion of Palestine? That's pretty much what is shaping up by proxy of IDF actions. Are they mad that they haven't been personally contacted by the white house? Asking for "more" without actually specifying anything inevitably means send in military force which usually makes these situations worse for the hostages.

And it helps down ballot especially with how Trumpy the GOP is it could swing a couple lean R or toss up races. This is actually a really big deal.
Yeah some places have gotten better and can be a pretty good deal. I'll do olive garden and they give you a salad and bread sticks with your entree, do carry out and have 2-3 meals for about $20 depending on what you get. Just have to have the right expectations.
