Today, I am wearing the EDP version of Fantome's Paimon (Hot sands, holy frankincense, sanctified myrrh, sun-bleached parchment, vanilla, black amber, coconut husk, a king's golden crown). I've owned the oil version since the collection originally came out, but have decided to try more of the brand's EDPs since rediscovering my EDP sample of Olwyn. There's no real difference between the EDP or oil version of Paimon. It's hot parchment and myrrh that slightly sweetens as it dries. It's warm, dry, and subtle.

Underfoot is another word I never hear anyone using outside of books.

Is vanilla a death note for you? That’s probably gotta be the most difficult note to avoid.

11 PULP Fragrance Reviews (self.indiemakeupandmore)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post my reviews of my first PULP Fragrance order. PULP is also my first indie purchase outside of the US! I’m a long time indie perfume lover who have been trying perfume houses that are new to me. So far, I have found some new favorites from this house. The longevity has been about 4-6 hours for me, and I’d say the scents have a medium throw. My general likes are your skin but better scents, white musk, gourmands, incense, fruits, and vanillas. I tend to avoid leather, tobacco, jasmine, and violet notes.

My rating scale:

5/5 = Obsessed! Full-size worthy!

4/5 = I love it, but not obsessed with it.

3/5 = I like it.

2/5= It may float someone else’s boat, but it’s not floating mine.

1/5 = Get it off me!

  1. The Delicate Vice - English lavender, a touch of forest air, vanilla, and sweet ambery skin musk

I get lavender with greenness and creamy vanilla when wet. I also get something that’s a little off from what I think is the forest air note. For me, it’s hot steam that’s almost barbecue smelling, but it doesn’t go straight into that territory. I’d describe the overall impression as broken up lavender sprigs in damp air. It becomes more ambery and dry smelling as it dries down. That one note throws the perfume off for me, so it’s a 2/5.

  2. Diabolik - Black licorice, frankincense Papyrifera, lightly singed lemonwood, sweet benzoin & onyx musk

When wet, I get lemon flavored hard candy. It’s a sweet citrus perfume. Mid-way through the dry down, the smell of licorice starts to show up. The lemon note gets less intense as it dries down, and eventually the perfume becomes more licorice dominant. I enjoy citrus scents, so it’s a 3/5 for me.

  3. Eigengrau - Eigengrau is a neutral yet multi-faceted skin scent with a Cetalox base, featuring additional tones of ambergris, old wood, and faintly sweet musky-amber

Upon application, I get a slightly salty, but sweet musk that reads wild for me. I’m picturing a gray beach. It’s very addicting and reminds me of something I’d smell on a hot guy, but I’d say the perfume is unisex. The dry down is a warm amber smell. 5/5

  4. Ensnare - Rich dark oud, labdanum, maple, and a line of black salt along the windowsill

When wet, I get a very rich and syrupy smell. It’s kind of leathery which I think is the labdanum. There’s also an earthy, dried tobacco leaf smell for me. It’s not smoky, so it’s not bad. The dry down smells like sweet, fallen leaves. I’d describe this perfume as a dark, earthy Fall scent. It’s weird because it smells like my death notes without listing them, but it's enjoyable. Maybe my taste is changing 😂 . I rate it a 3/5.

  5. First Date - Glassy cherry-orange lip gloss, a sprinkle of cocoa powder over a vanilla milkshake, & a hint of softly-sweet, clean skin musk.

I get a delicious chocolate-covered cherry gourmand scent. It’s slightly powdery and very yummy smelling. I think this perfume gives off that innocent/sexy vibe. When dry, it reminds me of these scented lip glosses I ~~ate~~ used growing up. It’s definitely first date worthy! A 5/5!

  6. Fortune Favors - Apple peels, poached red Bartlett pears, black cherry cider, vanilla caramels & smoked applewood musk

I'm getting spicy like cinnamon sticks in hot tea. There’s also some juicy red apples added into the drink. I’m getting the cider aspect, but not the black cherry aspect. Overall, it’s a very apple-forward scent that’s suited for the Fall. It’s okay, but it’s not something I want to smell like on a regular basis. 2/5.

  7. Hall of Mirrors - Pistachio gelato, buzzy neon, plastic Halloween masks, crushed hay, hot iron, cream soda spilled onto uneven floorboards and worn leather boots

For me. this smells exactly like rubber Halloween masks! There’s also a sweet powder dusted on top of the rubber smell. I’d describe this as a gourmand smell despite the rubber as this this perfume leans towards sweet overall. It’s a very interesting and nostalgic perfume, so 5/5

  8. Hauntology - Ozone, olibanum, the air in a closed up kitchen cupboard that might once have held raisins and dried apricots, ambergris, burled briarwood, & the lost futures of a home abandoned

When wet, all I get is sharp wood like I’m locked inside this cupboard that’s in the perfume description. No hint of snacks inside. The woodiness does calm down as it dries down, and a warm resinous scent becomes more apparent. 3/5

  9. Sonnet X - Black vanilla, white amber, and a single snowdrop pressed between the pages of an old album

I get a sweet and waxy smell when wet. It’s a white amber dominant perfume. I’d describe this as dry and kind of powdery. It’s pleasant, but it doesn’t really stick out for me. 3/5.

  10. South Star -Sweet creamy peach, vanilla beans, liatrix, & a woody-ambrette accord, all topped off with a hint of cinnamon

This gives me scented candle vibes from the start. It’s not very peachy for me. Instead it’s a creamy vanilla that’s mildly sweet. There’s a spice and woods combination that’s giving me candle store. When dried down, it continues with the sweet creaminess, but that woods and spice accord is still there. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s not my type of scent. 2/5.

  11. All your Lovely Words - Dried ginger root, zesty elemi, chai spices, split cedar logs, Siberian iris bulbs, Peru balsam & radiant rosewood amber.

I got this as a free sample. Ginger is the most prominent note. It’s fresh-smelling and uplifting. This perfume makes me think of cold herbal tea. It’s pretty balsamic overall. I think it’d be a good cooling smell on a hot day. I'm a fan! 4/5

Solstice Scents is a great house! I've had so many hits from them too.

Today, I am wearing Solstice Scent's Heart of the Night in EDP format (Moroccan Rose absolute, Bulgarian Rose absolute, Sugar, Chocolate, Vanilla, Edge of the Night Base). It's a strong chocolate scent with some rosiness when first applied. On dry down, it's a rosy musk smell. It's a dark, smooth gourmand perfume with a heavy rose. It smells delicious! I also got my first PULP fragrance order. I'm letting them rest a bit, and then I'll work on doing a review post. There's like 11 scents, so it'll be a while.

I'm trying to come up with a decent study routine between two languages. I would love to hear what languages you guys are learning, and how are you organizing your time between them. What has been working for you?

Today, I am wearing Fantome's Lyudmila (Ruby red grapefruit, jasmine sambac, rich vanilla, hinoki, a drop of dark dragon's blood, bitter orange, and a sprig of rosemary) in the oil format. I get dark red grapefruit with a sharp citrus smell when the perfume is wet. The sharp citrus note becomes more of a background smell after the perfume dries down and the jasmine note becomes stronger. I usually don't like jasmine, but Fantome's jasmine note really works well for me because it's deep and smooth. There's also a bitter edge to the perfume, but it's not a prominent quality. Overall, I'd describe this perfume as a dark floral perfume that leans feminine.

How are you traveling? Are you taking frequent trips or are you on a long-term journey?

For me, I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I can take trips frequently (casual hours), but I can't do trips longer than a month because I have to go back to work. I did get burned out on flying to different time zones all the time, and the stress of the whole airport process in general. I decided to stay home for the summer months as a break, and picked up more work hours. Well now, I can't wait to be on the move again!

As for fatigue during travel, I get tired out from constant decision-making. I'm also an ambivert, so while I enjoy meeting and talking to people, I find that I get mentally tired out after 3-4 days. For those reasons, I plan on rest days by giving myself extra time than I'd need in a location, usually in a hotel room. I also try to keep day to day stuff as flexible as I can, so I don't get stressed and can be spontaneous. I've taught myself to ignore the FOMO feeling, and to not force myself to do things when I feel that slump. It does go away after 1-2 days for me, and I get the urge to explore and socialize again.

Today, I'm wearing Osmofolia's Olfactorium (pink pepper, coffee, paper, iso e super, milk, coumarin, sandalwood, marshmallow). I got this as a free sample with my summer order. As a coffee addict, I'm in love. Wet: I get the smell of coffee and paper printer. It's warm and comforting. On the drydown, I get more of the milk and marshmallow notes like I added creamer to the coffee. This is a lovely gourmand perfume.

There’s so many manga that I wished had an ending, but Ultra Heaven is my answer. I read it probably about 10 years ago, and I still remember it from time to time. It was a really unique and trippy manga that I wish had an ending. I have no idea why it was cancelled though.

Another one that’s not officially cancelled is Vagabond, but I’m mentally prepared for it to have no ending since it hasn’t been continued in forever. From time to time, I’m just like “I wonder if it has an update?” The answer is always no.

I just like silk for the texture, and I needed something that looked nice. They’re pretty lightweight, but they do wrinkle easily.

Look into Quince. I haven't tried their merino, but their silk clothing was good for me.
