The newer model CR-V doesn't need an app, it's just a toggle in the car settings. That icon at the top like the article shows is definitely annoying and I agree in calling it a dark pattern.

I was into weird movies at the time, and still am, so I went alone to some small theater that was showing it. A few people walked out in the middle of the movie because after a full hour, nothing noteworthy actually happened. At the end of the movie when the lights went on (and still nothing actually happened the whole movie) everyone who was still there looked around in confusion and just started leaving. I had no answers either.
How far away do you need to start your car? Wouldn't a regular remote start on a key fob work for most situations? Unless you're taking the bus to your car.
The only reason I didn't buy one is because of its bezels which got bigger than last year. I want to support smaller phones but they make it really hard.
I would use Photoshop or Gimp to make the custom resolution and position and then stretch the highest resolution wallpaper over it. You can always go with two portals if matching doesn't work.
We start with a fresh browser window multiple times per day too. Except we also have multiple other windows of tabs minimized already.
They knew it promoted karma farming. It helps them make money so I doubt this is an "oops".
