Thanks for responding, appreciate it. I don't really need a "NAS" so to speak because of my mini pc which stays on 24/7 - I just need a place to store stuff. I was thinking a RAID or similar hard drive enclosure might be best because I can find some cheap drives and shove them in. I never considered a single drive with a massive capacity.

Do you think something like this 18TB drive is a good shout? I'm not sure if it's shuck-able...

I'm a big fan of Supergiant and if you haven't played any of their games, you should do so. They are masterpieces of gameplay and design, they feel so good to play. Personally Hades is my favourite but Bastion was my first and has a special place in my heart.

Is it possible they're grabbing those hard to find books and putting them on private markets before they even get to the floor? Surely wouldn't miss a trick to make a bit more cash and I'm guessing anything sci fi probably makes more money than generic fiction.

What did you get? Living vicariously through you tbh, I live in the UK now but used to love the bookfest.

It's a great community and while I enjoyed it on Reddit, I always felt drowned out. This feels a bit smaller and I like it.

I'd probably bet that the people that have filtered through to Lemmy probably already have their own data storage already sorted - you've got less "casuals" as it were. I use Google Drive myself, trying to figure out an alternative.

Any good sci-fi finds? Saw some posts on Masto saying it was pretty dry.

More of a Datahoarder question, but my current setup is a 5TB external drive connected to a dedicated little pc just for running Plex. I need to upgrade my storage.

Where to from here? A NAS seems like the best option but really I'm looking for mass storage.

It's easy to just rubbish (no pun intended) what the other guys are doing. Consensus is a sign of weakness in politics these days.

How the hell are all these people going to get around to these venues? Transit sucks, especially in the sunshine coast and in the Redlands (or anywhere outside of the CBD for that matter).

Whatever happened to the Eastern Busway? It gets as far as Coorparoo and then buses get released into the hellscape of Old Cleveland Road. The intersection near Carindale with the appearing and disappearing bus lanes feels like some sort of bad Cities Skylines edit.

Now is the perfect time to start building those regional connectors so we don't get embarrassed on the international stage when all our precious olympic tourists get crammed into hired bus coaches.

We have food waste bins in my town in the UK and it's a game changer. Keeps organic and general waste separate so my bins stink less, especially in summer, and the food waste goes to feed a big biodigester on the edge of town that creates energy.

I really think if they introduced food waste bins in BNE it could be a massive positive for the city. Just need to make sure they are possum proof!

It just makes so much sense! No more annoying power lines or water pipes - unless they are actually needed.

I'm so excited for the more realistic simulations. I watched two dollars twenty who did a video about building the city for the trailer and he said that the day / night cycle, weather and seasons were all so beautiful he didn't even turn them off. That's the kind of game I want to play.

Absolutely. We have tried existing off the "express" store 5 mins from us but the prices are killer. We have had to switch almost solely to the discount markets because of the cost of living.

I barely use my car so I have thought about selling it, but we don't have a reliable car hire scheme in my town so if I needed one for work I would be screwed. I think though that the savings from being car-free would in no way balance out the costs from the expensive supermarket. Difference of a weekly shop is like £50!
