And of course, as par for Reddit, it was one of the founders and then-chairman Alexis Ohanian behind it all and screwing the users. I’d like to think Aaron Swartz would be pissed and disappointed but unfortunately we’ll never know.

I still fondly remember the days of Victoria helping with facilitating the AMAs. She had a great rapport with all the celebrities and really helped with getting good answers to questions from the community.
I consider her termination to be the moment Reddit started going down the route of putting potential profits above the needs of the community.
Had just gotten off work and was preparing to smoke and scroll Reddit as my usual way of unwinding down, and Apollo was dead. Decided to see what the fediverse was as all about and download WefWef and I got say, it’s scratching the itch pretty good.
It’s my hope that the decrease in quality content and moderation over the next couple of months causes Reddit to implode and spez is thrown out like the clown he is.
Fuck spez, fuck Reddit, and I hope their IPO dreams crumble.
Fuck spez for being a greedy little pig bitch. Apollo might not work anymore but I’ll be damned if I’ll ever delete it off my phone, just for sentimental nostalgia. Thank you Christian for building a great app!
So sad to see so many of the 3rd party apps i used throughout the years die. RiF, Sync, Baconreader, and my latest for the past couple years Apollo. But have to say, Lemmy and WefWef are definitely scratching the itch. Glad to be here!

That whole time period on Reddit was such a cluster. Ellen Pao gathering all the hate for firing Victoria when it was Ohanian (and probably Huffman) pulling the strings the whole time. Pao knew exactly what her job as the fall-girl was and ran with that money once it was over.
