PROGRESS! Couple more fingers held together and we’ll need an NSFW tag

This is the quality statistic I like to see

Another issue is I think the moderator is somewhat dormant and there’s no current process in lemmy to replace or add new ones without their approval. Bit of a lawless land at the moment. Formula1 on lemmy.ml has active moderators and sidebar and pinned posts, but very slightly less engagement though quite close.

Oh my god 4300? You’re nuts!

Agreed, should’ve been pretty easy to grab the image either from instagram or even reddit and just rehost it.

I think without striving to match reddit's formatting exactly, at the moment just putting one up and pinning it would be a good start prior to figuring out an automated solution. Could be tedious but having a reminder to refresh it each week or so until better tools come out is a solution. As the other META discussion thread today and previous ones have brought up, I think there's a concern that users may just feel this community is bogged by update threads only, so having a manually pinned thread as a placeholder for now would give a better impression for new users, a sign that this place is for any posts about manga, just that the low-effort updates tend to be the most common due to being easy even for ex-lurkers like me.

At the moment, the source code of the bot seems to look at only mangaplus and takes some sort of catalogue of what might be at the top of the release day, which often includes some less popular releases at the moment. This does miss out on a lot of other popular titles that aren't mangaplus, though of course new bots could be brought in to fix this.

I do agree that not having a super timely bot to post immediately upon a popular title drop release can result in some missed comments, but I actually think that the majority of user posts here so far are fairly timely. I don't speak for everyone but I used to actually use r/manga for all my updates rather than an aggregator or tracking site since I liked seeing the discussions at the same time, so it wasn't as paramount for me that the posts were immediate upon availability.

This comment here and that I've also added to the body of the main post I think better sums up my original post's intention as well as to what I think could help with actual user engagement. Having chapters being posted by one actually invested person could give way to better engagement.

This is a great comment and along what I was thinking. Thank you for summing this much more clearly than I could.

I’m not as fond of this option as it doesn’t as quickly notify members of new releases and garner as much engagement.

This whole series is such a TEASE. Love it. At least they’re already an item to everyone except themselves.

HOOOLY Mama

I’m seeing that on this post even, says 3 comments when currently there are 2 (prior to my reply here).

If you go into the comments and collapse the second level reply to a first level reply to the post, and then try to collapse the first level as well, the app doesn’t behave correctly and instead expands to show the replies in the third level.

Apologies if this is worded poorly!

As a disclaimer, I am a first time NASCAR viewer as I am normally a fan of F1 and WEC.

I think it’s unfortunate that the poor weather is going to doom this event's reception. I purchased a reserved seat ticket for the weekend (~$460 after tax) and intended to essentially be there for its entirety, and that’s what I did yesterday starting with first practice until we had to evacuate due to a nearby thunderstorm, nearly 8 hours on site!

I’m sad to see all of the hate and vitriol thats getting thrown at the event organizers on twitter, obviously those who are most frustrated are likely to vent and twitter is twitter, but I think the public perception is going to really tank any future chances of this happening again, not that the perception was high before it happened either.

I personally did enjoy what I got though! The deep rumble in my body when the xfinity cars went past was really special. Weather is always a natural enemy of any festival, and safety with all the trees and metal around on the course I think is understandable. As for going to the cup race coming up, the rain has largely stopped but I’m not sure I want to tread through the flooded park to get to my grandstand. Sunk cost perhaps?

Anyhow, as a Chicagoan first timer, rock on.

This is my first ever event, couldn’t pass up such a close local race regardless if it succeeds or not!
