Interesting, thanks for posting about this. For a plugin that's in it's infancy (only a couple of days old), it's already worth trying.

At the moment it requires you to choose your country and then offers alternatives based in your country. So for example when I visit Amazon, it recommends a national bookshop here in Ireland. That's a great recommendation if I'm looking for books, but I wasn't.

Hopefully it will become more context sensitive in time and make recommendations based on what item I'm looking at. If I'm looking at a load carrier / trolley, I'd like to get a recommendation for Athlon in Germany, for example. I'll contact the developers about that.

But the main reason I'd use something like this is to simply stop lining the pockets of billionaires, so I'd like to find the smallest supplier/retailer possible. Maybe I need a different extension.

Edit: They can be contacted on codeberg repo here: https://codeberg.org/K-Robin/GoEuropean

It’s my favourite, but your license must be open source to use it.

Clozemaster is worth listing too https://www.clozemaster.com/l/fin-eng

Nemo, Ling, LingQ (no relation)& Plimseur are other options.

After spending most of the day trying to add chapters to my own mp3 file, I eventually found this web-based version that works perfectly: https://mp3chapters.github.io

What's good about it is it takes timestamps in the simple format that you see on YouTube: eg 00:01:45.00 Chaptername.

I tried with: ffmpeg, atomic parsley, mp4chaps, mp3splt and for one reason or another the result would fail to add chapters correctly. I've been on stackoverflow, blogs, DeepSeek and ChatGPT. A paid option I tested out was good but cost about EUR 50. In other words: you can save yourself some hours by just going to the link above.

I had stopped using it for the same reason. I think this new initiative is a way to make it easier, but as you say, consistency is the other issue.

But doesn't Leta use Bing as it's backend also?

It seems like a good alternative so some of the most popular engines. I think I'll stick with Ecosia, since on top of being EU based, they also make the world a better place.

She’s correct.

The government tell the citizens that they share their concerns but act against those concerns. Promising to enact the Occupied Territories Bill, but then sabotaging it after the election is only one example.

Any meaningful work is carried out on more mainstream platforms, I would imagine. They're probably on Facebook. You also might get some leads by asking on https://reddit.com/r/askireland

I know people baking cakes and selling them to donate to charities working on the ground in Gaza. I imagine that this isn't what you're looking for, though. If you're trying to get news out, for example, certain groups might be more suited to that. If you're trying to get essential supplies in, it might suit a different group.

I'm happy to look into it if you want to elaborate. To get you started, here are a couple: https://www.ecosia.org/search?q=palestine+support+groups+ireland

I've been running nightly for months to use their vertical tab implementation and I really like it. The icon is great too, incidentally. I do find the higher frequency of updates a bit distracting in general though so I'll probably switch back to the public release version, unless there's something just as compelling coming up in the nightlies again soon.

I ask because we had a situation in Ireland just like this many years ago. It was for welfare fraud specifically and faced criticism for a few reasons. One was that the suspected levels of fraud may have been much lower than the politician was claiming. The other reason was that the cost of tackling it could likely outweigh any savings.

I was initially against DRM support, but in hindsight I believe FF would have quickly slipped into irrelevance without it.

I could really use some of these. There’s a video showing what they look like for anyone interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUxcMQ4MKK4&pp=ygULRHVtYndhcmUuaW8%3D

I just want to echo my apologies and sympathies to the trans community. I'll never understand why you've been chosen as the target for the hate factories that are radicalising people. I also don't understand how people can allow themselves to see something entirely natural as something unnatural. But, I think of your dilemma regularly and would like to be more of an ally.

iTunes, Rhythmbox, Quodlibet, Navidrome and the iPod are all good at organising albums. But for singles, I find it pretty tedious. They add a lot of clutter to the album art view with entries that only have one song attached to them. They also clutter the artist browser with entries with just one song attached.

At the moment I use music managers like those mentioned above for albums, but for singles I just have them all in one folder on my desktop that I drag into a simple music player (reAmp, a classic Winamp clone). I find it works well for easy listening. As a result, my music manager is clutter free with albums I can choose when I want to just "press play". But I don't have access when I'm away from my computer.

Has anyone else struggled with this?

I've tried a few language-learning apps, but the quality varies depending on the language. I'm more confident in the books that come with CDs.

In the past I would have coded something and added the text and audio to give myself a crude language app with superior content. But I don't think I have it in me anymore so I'm looking for something that comes without the content. Does anything like this exist?
