the only thing practically capping the lengthening of the cycle is planned obsolescence. If your phone starts acting weird and losing usability 2 years in, and you cant fix it without shelling out the equivalent of a new phone (I'm looking at you apple), there's no real way around a new phone. be it old model or flagship, you're still forced to buy because no phone is understandably not an option for most people.

more or less. most are perfectly legible once you know what its supposed to say and some can be read by almost anyone.
this one specifically though is recognizable by its crowded pattern and unique shape with the horns on the bottom. its not designed to be legible in the first place (especially not with this much compression), sort of satirizing the whole thing, and thats kinda the point of their name and band in its entirety

as the article correctly states, not all hydrogels are made the same. the ones in diapers and menstrual pads are specifically designed to NOT rerelease absorbed liquids. there are other hydrogels out there which are designed to absorb and dry out repeatedly without degrading or losing absorbancy, and are therefore more suitable for plants. i dont have any deeper experience with hydrogels, but I did have it as a consideration for my kratky (passive) hydroponics setup.

I really enjoy RimWorld :D doesnt have to be all warcrimes and organ trade, and with the abundance of mods you can totally build up a solarpunk utopia in any flavor you like (also with the ideology dlc you can actually ingrain specific values to your colonists and theres a huge variety of meme mods for it)
