9/11- Today I'm embracing the cooler weather with a baggy knit cardigan and BPAL Apple Macchiato (apple spice, cinnamon, brown sugar, oatmilk, and caramel apple drizzle over espresso). It's warm sweet and spicy, which is perfect for the rainy weather today.

Today is Solstice Scents Maine Moon (Crisp Fall Air, Wood Smoke, Leather Seats & Concessions of Root Beer, Popcorn & Chocolate Covered Caramels). I'm always a bit shocked at how well Solstice does these complex atmospherics. It's finally fall scents season! And Solstice does these fall atmospherics so well it's insane. This one is similar to Foxcroft Fairgrounds but somehow distinctly different. I get more of the "fall" feeling with this one. More smoke and I get all of the other notes individually. I get more of a blended smell with Foxcroft where I can pick out the root beer barrels, popcorn, and caramel with Maine Moon. I really love this one and glad I picked it up from someones destash!

Today I'm wearing Stereoplasm Humbug (Twirling hard caramel, spiced rum, 2 whole cloves, fresh nutmeg, a gingerbread biscuit, sprinkle of cinnamon). I saved this one for cooler weather. It's super heavy spiced caramel. I looooove it but it would have been too much in warmer weather. Yay for finally getting fall weather! It's sweet and spicy and I'm really happy with this one.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the job I interviewed for last week. I'm so ready to be done with my current position. I took Friday off for an extra long holiday weekend. Came back today to see that almost nothing was done while I was gone. Lab dishes were left full of media and water over the long weekend and are disgusting and full of mold. I'm so exhausted and frustrated at being the only one responsible with getting things done. I've mentally checked out and really hope I can transition to something new.

Today isSolstice Scents Manor (Woody-Vanilla Musk, Vanilla, Agarwood, Sandalwood). This one always feels so sophisticated. It's warm and welcoming with a strong wood opening. It quickly dries down to something sweeter with a lovely vanilla.

9/3- Today I wanted to smell like sweet treats, so I went with SugarMilk Co Frosted Animal Cookie. Smells exactly like the pink and white frosted cinnamon animal cookies with the little sprinkles. I love how accurate this houses' scents are.

Thank you! It's not quite what I expected, but still hopeful to get an offer in the next few weeks. It's a good opportunity even if the job isn't exactly what I was looking for.

(9/1)Today I'm testing another of my Poesie reissue scents. I went with Comfort (toasted cardamom pods, pink peppercorn, precious resins, sandalwood flower, cashmere blankets, warm vanilla musk). This one has more initial throw than some of the others I've tried. I like this one, it's not too sweet but very cozy. I definitely get the pink peppercorn right off the bat, with the snuggly warm cashmere and vanilla next. This is a nice lazy day at home scent (yay early start to my long holiday weekend!).

Today (8/30) I'm wearing my custom blend from Frankly Try This. I named it Smoldering Strawberry (notes: smoky incense, creamy sandalwood, fresh strawberry, and soft vanilla). Wearing a unequivocally "me" scent as a pick me up and confidence builder for my interview this afternoon.

Tues (8/29) is Arcana Craves Pumpkins Crave Black Swallowers (Notes: darkly smoldering incense billowing from a brass censer, clove cigarettes, brittle shards of wood, warm pumpkin spiked with nutmeg, a shot of French cognac, a curl of Ceylon cinnamon, and a twist of tobacco.) It's going to be 90+ again in a few days, but fuck it I'm diving into my fall scents. It's close enough damnit! This is dark and sexy pumpkin. It's warm and resinous, with just enough spice to kick it firmly into fall territory. I'm loving all of the Arcana Craves Pumpkin line that I've tried so far. This one might just be my favorite.

Monday (8/28), today I'm wearing Arcana Wildcraft's Four Nights (notes: Opening with petrichor and sleepy French lavender, then drying down to the softest woolen blankets piled on a cool forest floor at midnight). I absolutely love this scent. So cozy.

Products:

Base: ORLY Bonder

Polish: 1 coat Color Club Blush Crush as a nude base color

Polish: 3 coats Ethereal Latte Cloud (August PPU)

Stamping: Maniology Straight Up Black, and plate M014

Topcoat: Essie Good to Go, and Maniology no smudge topcoat

The shift on this one is crazy! It's a pretty sheer lilac/grey base with a strong blue/purple shift in the sun. Really happy with the formula on this one, glad I snagged a bottle this month!

No scent today (8/27) but I did redo my nails. Using Ethereal Latte Cloud from August PPU and my Maniology stamping freebie kit. I'll post a separate image post!

Products:

Base: ORLY Bonder

Polish: Jior You and Me, Us Never Part (3 coats)

Topper: Lumen Glass Frog (1 coat)

Topcoat: Essie Good to Go

So, silly me didn't realize until my mani was done that this polish is magnetic and thermal. So this is un-magnetized. The base is a really pretty purple with blue green shift. In pictures I can't pick up the purple. But it's there I promise! The shimmer is strong, so of course I added more with one coat of Glass Frog which really brings out the blue-green in the Jior polish. I will say, I'm not a fan of the formula or brush of the Jior polish. It's a thick enough formula it felt hard to work with. Which was intensified by a not so great brush. It was stiff and square, which made it hard to get even, especially around the cuticles. The color is nice, but I would probably pass up another bottle from this brand unless it was a had-to-have color.
