Yeah basically, because in our system there has to be a "conservative" party and a "progressive" party, and you're right, the old guard Republicans and Democrats that lean more conservative and more authoritative should team up and become the new non-batshit crazy conservative party, as the MAGA(GOP) party loses its legitimacy and slinks back into being the ostracized Far/Alt Right, as they should be.

They're also using military and police families too, it's disgustingly exploitive, but not surprising.

Works for me, but the way the government is built is for the adversarial system, which means two main parties, that's why there's a public funding threshold based on the amount of voters for each party. It's because the founders felt that what basically amounts to political yin & yang will balance our government from getting too conservative or too progressive, it also goes along with Jefferson's "Tree of liberty" quote, where civil wars were planned for by the architects of our government, meaning that they were accepting of the idea that civil wars may occur often in our nation's history.

The easiest fix to our adversarial democracy problem is to either lower the public funding voter threshold, which would allow for more parties, or initiate national ranked choice voting, which would allow for better quality candidates while maintaining the adversarial system.

If Trump loses in November and continues to drain the GOP dry you will most likely get your wish, I can't see things going much further than this if they lose, although that would probably mean that it's time for the Democratic party to go back to being the conservative party again, while hopefully spawning something new that focuses on progression.

That's probably why the movie was titled Oppenheimer and not Hiroshima & Nagasaki, because the movie was focused on the man and his work and the regrets that came from that work, while nations celebrated the end of a second World War.

This movie was the type of movie that was always going to upset someone, and while it sucks that Japanese citizens were killed, their Emperor's military might was a brutally murderous raping scourge set loose on that section of the world, while also working with some of the other worst regimes of the world. Overall Japan fucked around and attacked first, did a lot of horrible shit to many different peoples, made some truly horrible friends, and then found out in one of the most devastating ways possible, I feel bad for the innocent civilians, but it was always ever going to end the way it did, if not a lot worse.

I'm just glad Japan grew to be what it is now and that it chose better ways to engage with the world than more attempts at domination, even though Anime, Manga, video games, and more have dominated the world's hearts.

Shitty ass Mayor Adams: "it's not a bug, it's a feature"

Hochul and Adams both need to get replaced as soon as they can be voted out, we gotta stop being fooled by Right leaning Centrists within the Democratic party, just being a "Democrat" is absolutely not good enough, especially with all of the centrist Republicans joining the party. Although it shows that if Trump loses in November and the MAGA corrupted GOP collapse the Dems are poised for becoming the new conservative party, which means the left leaning Dems should form something new, which would restore the adversarial balance that we've been losing since the rise of the Tea Party/Freedom caucus/MAGAs within the Republican party.

Just one more election won by the Left could reset our entire political landscape back to the "normal" we used to know, you know, back when the government actually functioned somewhat and wasn't almost completely hampered by treasonous fascist Christian Nationalist Nazi/Confederate/Putin-ite wannabes.🤞

Agreed, sending it to some of the more hungry and left leaning news orgs would probably be a good start, like The Daily Beast, Mother Jones, The Daily KOS, The Atlantic, Rawstory, and the New Yorker, these outlets like digging into stuff like this.

West Virginia learning nothing from Kansas doung the same dumb shit with their board of education two decades ago sounds about right.

They learned that they can get away with it, and that's the only lesson these Nat-C's care about.

It's good to know which publications are owned by who so you can spot patterns in what they report, but also so you can filter them from your feeds when you feel like it's not worth the effort.

Oh definitely a possibility, and I'm not sure how much you know about Jamaican culture, but they are not exactly fond of gay folks down there, some of their stances on homosexuality tend to be similar to Uganda's stances on homosexuality. One of Jamaica's most internationally recognized dancehall reggae artists, Beanie Man, was banned from entering the UK under hate crime laws because of his words, lyrics, and deeds towards gays, he's since apologized in 2010, but still, not a good place to be gay.
