updated with new Facebook group "Everything The 7th Guest and 11th Hour", and added a note about the Reddit/r/7thguest is now locked.

The soundtracks to the seminal CD-ROM titles "The 7th Guest" and "The 11th Hour" by George "The Fat Man" Sanger, reimagined as industrial rock. A project over 2 years in the making, made with the full support of The Fat Man himself, and appreciative nods from the founders of Trilobyte Games, Graeme Devine and Rob Landeros. Featuring album artwork by Trilobyte's original 3D artist Rob Stein III (RIP).

If you don't know what Deus Ex Randomizer is, then here's our trailer which shows a breakdown of how it works:

v3.0 Trailer

Here's the trailer for WaltonWare mode. WaltonWare mode is focused on quick wins by completing a single bingo line, and increasing difficulty after every win. The bingo goals are all scaled to their minimum settings and you start in a random area. All bingo goals will be completable within just a few maps!

WaltonWare Trailer

See the full README here. Also check out our Discord and Mods4Ever.com

  • We've seen some confusion with Limited Fixed Saves. When you have a Memory Containment Unit in your inventory (or 2 for the new Extreme version) you only need to have the box highlight on the computer and then you can use the normal Save Game menu or Quicksave button. The only freebie autosave you get is at the very start of the game. Make sure to save before going to Battery Park! Sometimes you might want to backtrack to save. Remember that if you die not all is lost, because you now have a better plan!

Changes

  • Fixed Mr. H from counting in the M04 raid enemy counter
  • Fixed zombie Howards preventing Silo from completing
  • Disable infolink about MJ12 if Paris is Chill
  • Added Paris elevator call button at the top
  • Some fixes for endgame cutscenes and NG+

A recent let's play from someone who knows the game pretty well!

Major Changes

  • Extreme Limited Fixed Saves mode, uses 2 Memory Containment Units per save instead of 1. Must also be near a computer like in the other Fixed Saves modes. Pairs well with Halloween Mode for a new challenge!
  • Reduced Mr. H's health. You still can't kill him, but if you deal enough damage to him then he will run away.
  • Separate option for enemies weapons variety % (issue #729)
  • Slightly buffed prod range from 80 like a knife, to 88 (half a foot more). For reference, Dragoon's Tooth Sword is 96 range.
  • Fixed installer and BingoViewer crash when searching missing removable drives
  • Installer now detects if the game is running
  • Autofill passwords is now disabled by default in Zero Rando (non-plus)
  • Rando Medium now uses slightly reduced enemy randomization and enemy weapons variety
  • New home for the DXRando Activity bot https://mastodon.social/@DXRandoActivity

Minor Changes

  • Added the missing UNATCO public computer terminal to M04 and redistributed the articles between them
  • Fixed zombies counting as killing innocents for bingo
  • Fixed 06_HONGKONG_WANCHAI_GARAGE AllianceTriggers behind the barricade
  • Fixed zombie time counting during menus
  • Fixed AimeeLeMerchantLived conditions
  • Graveyard zombies now get random names
  • New menu option to disable October Cosmetics, separate from Memes
  • You can now carve jack-o'-lanterns with a knife or sword, as long as you do less than 7 damage
  • Swapped actors also swap bOwned (this may affect NPCs saying things about you grabbing items)
  • D3D 11 hide targeting zoom view because it doesn't work
  • The additional explosive crates on superfreighter no longer appear for Zero Rando mode
  • Fixed a rare bug with carrying crates in shallow water
  • Don't lie about Chad being alive
  • The randomized Metro Nicolette is gone on Chateau and beyond starts
  • Fixed mini-crossbow's unique sound instead of generic silenced weapon sound
  • Consuming zyme now does damage, as intended
  • The augmentation cannister description now mentions AugBots
  • OrdersTrigger now affects clones, and when disabling non-robots it kills them instead of making them t-pose
  • Don't play Walton's infolinks if he's dead
  • Fixed collision for datacubes, and in speedrun mode also for jack-o'-lanterns
  • Removed annoying messages about inventory overlap when glitches are enabled
  • Fixed certain advanced settings not always being properly reset when navigating the new game screens and changing game modes

The 1990s was a time of rapid change in the tech powering video game graphics. From pre-rendering, to ray casting, to texture-mapped polygons, it seemed that a major innovation was around every corner.

However, the pathway towards graphical realism hasn't always been clear. Let's explore one such forking path: full-motion video. With CD-powered consoles and home PCs arriving in the 90's, FMV-powered games became viable at last, promising the world... but only delivering oddity after oddity.

In 1995, George "The Fat Man" Sanger composed this tune for The 11th Hour. It was supposed to be the main theme, like "The Game" had been for The 7th Guest, but George couldn't get the lyrics to work. So he scrapped it and wrote "The Final Hour" instead, which became The 11th Hour's theme song. This tune instead became the music heard during the train puzzle in The 11th Hour.

For our album "Soup's On: Selections from Stauf's Infernal Jukebox," George went back to his old notes and finished the lyrics. Here, for the first time, is the original theme song to The 11th Hour, with vocals by our very own Jackie Stewart.

Good news, soup fans! Our reimagining of the 7th Guest and 11th Hour soundtracks — "Soup's On: Selections from Stauf's Infernal Jukebox" — will release digitally on Oct. 31. It will be available on Bandcamp and streaming services. Happy Halloween!

One of our most audacious tracks on Soup's On is this medley of "walking around music" from The 11th Hour. This one combines everything from jazz and swing to blistering industrial metal. https://youtu.be/EXPH_wKw1h8

Soup's On releases on digital platforms Oct. 31, 2024!

from The Fat Man:

Here's the first of some surprises I'm throwing out there for October. #1, this cool Halloween album. Loads of sweet scary arrangements of game tunes from fellow game composers. The fifth track is my own The Game from Trilobyte Games #The7thGuest, played by my surf band #LosCoronados and featuring a wild #moog solo by keyboard legend (and good friend) Adam Holzman. Next surprise...might there be a video? Stay tuned! Tagging David Ari Fischer

This special performance of "The Game" from The 7th Guest features the original composer, The Fat Man himself, along with talent from San Diego's Mid-City Community Music group making their recording debut, and an incredible solo from legendary keyboardist Adam Holzman who has performed with Miles Davis, many other jazz legends, and on his own renowned recordings. Scarlet Moon Halloween Volume III is available on all digital storefronts and streaming platforms today.

Noticed this during a stream today, with some interesting text in the game.

(wow, they talked about online patients in 1998?)

Btw this is one of the most entertaining games to watch on Twitch and chat with the streamer.

Tomorrow Deus Ex is turning 24 years old, and DXRando is turning 4 years old!

Biggest Changes Since v2.0

  • You can now pet the dog! And other animals too. With bingo goals.
  • Way more goals randomization
  • Mirrored maps
  • Installer program
  • New game modes:
    • WaltonWare mode - A quick option to get into the game without the time commitment of the full game! You start in a random mission and win by completing one bingo. As New Game+ keeps making it harder, see how fast you can complete them or how many you can complete!
    • WaltonWare Entrance Rando - both modes combined!
    • Zero Rando - great for first-time Deus Ex players to benefit from the bug fixes, QoL improvements, and balance changes we've made, without any randomization.
    • DXR Vanilla Fixer: This one is for the purists. Use our new installer program and it will do compatibility fixes for the vanilla game (Kentie's Launcher, D3D10, DXVK, Engine.dll fix, and more), then just run DeusEx.exe as normal and the gameplay will be unchanged but with high frame rates and resolutions!
    • Randomizer Lite - randomizes some things without interfering with the immersion and mood of the game. Great for players who haven't played Deus Ex in a long time, or if you're intimidated by the full Randomizer.
    • Randomizer Medium - similar to Randomizer Lite but with more randomization features enabled by default. Remember you can tweak the settings in the Advanced menu to play with any randomization level you want.
    • Serious Sam mode - same as the normal game but with 10x as many enemies. The player has increased health and takes reduced damage to compensate.
    • Speedrun mode - speedrun with fewer resets while still being able to enjoy higher difficulties. And a built in splits viewer!
    • As well as the old Entrance Randomizer mode and Horde mode
  • Enemies overhaul with more variety, augs, helmets, face shields to protect from tear gas, and randomized patrol routes.
  • Now up to 337 bingo goals
  • Randomized music, continuous music, and support for Unreal and Unreal Tournament music
  • Auto augs to reduce fumbling with all your F-keys
  • Many more possible locations for items, datacubes, nanokeys, crates, and enemies to appear.
  • Loot refusal system.
  • Reduced pixel hunting
    • Datacubes/nanokeys/medbots/repairbots now glow
    • Crates that become emptied now turn into cardboard boxes so you know from a distance
    • Training mission improvements including explanation of some of Randomizer's features
