Yeah it's extreme. That thing looks ready to fall apart at any time, not to mention how lousy the accuracy has to be!

I want to add Fermilab as a quality physics channel as well, easy to follow and Don Lincoln is entertaining to listen to.

I'm not saying this in a demeaning way whatsoever, nor do i expect you to take this seriously, but: Try to talk to more people offline, spend less time online. Try to see a psychologist. We all get roped along into some irrational thoughts in our life, there's no shame in it. These conspiracies are not rational in any way.

I'd go for single mode, since it's usually the same price, if not cheaper. You'll probably need a fiber splicing machine (and a couple or four splice protectors, depending if you use single fiber or duplex) and a splice box on both ends.
