Yeah I moved from Texas to Oregon years ago and that's the main reason why. It's just not safe in areas like that for queer people. I hope your friends stay safe and are doing okay after that.
lol there's a bug in Lemmy right now where sometimes somebody's comment will appear on another post. It almost happened to me but I noticed the instance switched posts before I clicked "reply". Had to refresh the page to get back to the right post.

Nah, they already did that with Mastodon so now they only have to federate with Lemmy! It's all coming together!
I tried to use ChatGPT help speed up my writing, like I tried using "give me a brief history of Queen Dido's relationship with Caesar" when working on a character inspired by Queen Dido and then it gave me completely false information relating to some other historical figure.
Until it can get more trustworthy in that regard I'm not sure how effective it is for writing assistance let alone writing the entire paper by itself.
Somebody has to populate this community with articles! lol
I've heard it in most parts of the US too (south, midwest, west coast), it's pretty common.
Yeah, I'm in that renter group and it suuuuucks. We wanted to move to another part of the city but with my states rent control it's made more sense to stay put because our rent is still right around what it was five years ago which is wayyyy better than if we signed a new lease at another place.
