No worries. I'm just glad I'm not a trump supporter. 😅

Yeah I noticed that. I was confused about the mass down voting. Not sure if he deleted his comment or I clicked the wrong response arrow.

Either way, when I see people posting nazi propaganda about trans people (or anyone for that matter) I tend to get defensive.

People forget that when the nazis got into power they didn't go straight for the Jewish community, they dipped their toes in the water by going after the lgbtq community first. Once they got away with that they knew they could go after the disabled, Jews and Roma etc. The Republicans are currently following the nazi playbook.

I can see where the confusion is. I was responding to @thoughtorgan and the parent comment was deleted so my comment is out of context.

Oh well. 🤷‍♂️

Wait is that in reference to me?

I was responding to a transphobe saying his opinion about an issue he knows nothing about is not valid compared to the lived experience of trans people.

Also I'm Canadian. Check my post history. It's all there.

I'm kinda surprised I'm getting down voted for pointing out someone has a bigoted opinion about an issue they have no knowledge about. As someone whose actually been dealing with gender dysphoria since the 1970s I've become rather knowledgeable about the subject and as someone careening towards 50 I don't have the patience to coddle bigots.

If that makes me unpopular then oh well.

If a child is born with a cleft lip would you repair it or tell them that's the way god made them and they have to live with it?

If a child is neurodivergent and has severe gender dysphoria becasue of it do you force them to remain unhappy and uncomfortable or do you help them make adjustments to make them more comfortable?

If you can't "fix" the issue isn't the next best step accommodating for it? If someone is paralyzed and the spine can't be repaired do you leave them in bed or give them a wheelchair? If I person is deaf do you just leave them in silence or give them hearing aids and/or teach them to sign?

Being trans is very often like being gay, it's hardwired into the brain, just like being left handed. If it's just the way a person's brain is wired isn't it better to relieve discomfort by adjusting the physical to match the mental if the mental can't be adjusted to match the physical?

There will be kids who are experimenting with their gender identity and decide that they're most comfortable as their birth gender and that's great, any form of self discovery is awesome but there will always be people who are gender dysphoric and the most successful way of alleviating that dysphoria is to transition.

Years and years of therapy come before any form a medical transition for kids and often transition simply means a preferred name change, change of clothes and gender affirming hair style. If a child is comfortable with just those changes then medical transition isn't necessary. If however they, after therapy and non medical gender affirming care still feel uncomfortable puberty blockers can be used to pause puberty until the child is older. Once they're older they can decide whether or not transition is the right choice for them.

No one should go into transition without therapy first but gender dysphoria is so uncomfortable. It's like walking around in shoes that are 3 sizes too big or too small your entire life. You can get by, but it's painful.

Fun fact. I was 2 years older than Bart when the Simpsons started on the Tracy Ulman show and now I'm over a decade older than Marge and Homer.

I need a nap.

I will be watching a show, flick through the channels during the commercial break and forget what I was watching.

At least with streaming I can just put on my comfort shows (basically anything that comes on adult swim) and just rewatch them over and over. That way there's still background noise and because I've seen the same episodes a hundred times it doesn't matter if I lose track because I've already seen it a hundred times.

You know you sound like a nazi and yet you keep repeating the same nazi propaganda.

Do you complain about accommodation for anyone else? 🤔 All you have to do is literally not say something offensive to a trans person. That's it. You don't have to like trans people, you don't have to like gay people. Hell, you don't even have to like black people if you're a racist. BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THEM ALONE. That is literally all you're required to do. If leaving people alone is a problem I'm afraid it's a you problem.

That's where growing up in the 80s comes in handy. Thanks to stranger danger we were taught to use code words to prove if someone was telling the truth that our parents sent them to get us. Now it will be needing to use a code word to prove we're talking to who we think we are.

That's an interesting way to say "I'm a bigot."
