Just think ~~Peter~~ ~~Miles~~ Gwen, there's a whole infinite multiverse of Uncle Ben's dying out there, and all of them your responsibility!

I finally drove out there in my explorer and I was salty about it. Those low rolling dunes and high visibility got me feeling jealous, but I think I'd have struggled with power. I was on biofuel and burners for a long time thanks to a few chainsaw clearcutting sessions.

I built my SE over a large lake near the second starting area that had some nearby flat land and already things are piled on top of each other, belts weaving all over. Honestly though, automation doesn't even truly begin until you're into phase 2. Trying to set up smaller specialized factories that have routes between each other is my current strategy.

Some people say to just wait for trains (just unlocked!) or build long belts, but I enjoy the vehicles and setting up the truck depots. Very helpful with the rough terrain around me as well.

Don't forget their "leadership team" wanted to let everyone know that they're hiring scabs right now. What an offer!

Wow, hadn't thought about that one in a long time. I thought it was an old Scott Hanselman blog and I was correct! I'll have to reread it, been years now.

I'm not sure there's much why to it exactly. I feel like a small fraction of people I've met in life were truly passionate and excited about the work they did. Most had some passion for an art, or a hobby, or for their kids very commonly, but people who really want to grow and master their craft are somewhat rare generally. Most folks just want to do well enough to keep their jobs and then go home to whatever they actually care about.

Consider that to go on a site specifically for programming questions and then take a survey about it, you have to be the kind of person that cares about getting their code "right". The majority of programmers I've met would only go there to copy-paste a quick answer, and those people have all moved to asking chat-gpt for code now.

Hmm... what technology to bank on after AI pops? Smart hustle is probably on quantum computing, already a fair bit of snakeoil there, but honestly I want to go long on spintronics! It's a cool buzzword, it sounds accessible yet high tech, and despite my best efforts I have very little idea what it's about or how it works!

Time to write up a white paper like "Spintronic circuits are the future of quantum security" and see if I can collect some of that sweet sweet VC money!

Too much corporate slop for my tastes but not bad reading.

What I'm playing now:

Satisfactory (just release 1.0!)

Deep Rock Galactic (Rocktoberfest event next week!)

Just picked up:

Talos Principle 2 (big fan of the 1st)

shapez2 (really been on a factory game kick lately)
