It’s mostly that the front page is increasingly being titty streamers, which really isn’t a problem, but isn’t super fun to land on every day.

It’s also heavily pushed in recommendations if other viewers of a stream you’re watching are regular watchers (ex. I’m watching shroud, but a ton of shrouds viewers also watch titty streamers, so I must want to as well)

Honestly it’s just more annoying than anything else. There’s no viewership loss implications for streamers, despite what some scream about.

Lots of rural Washington too

Should that also be a requirement on windows laptops of the same price? Because I don’t see any outrage over that

Yeah, the anti-Apple crowd on here has this misguided notion that the only reason everyone buys Apple is “social status” - which while not a 0 factor, is definitely not the primary factor. If you’re going to be spending iPhone money you might as well get the best out there, which imo is currently the iPhone, but is an opinion that varies based on what someone uses their devices for

I could buy a different laptop, but then I’d have to use Linux or Windows, which are not great experiences on mobile devices.

I could buy a different laptop and get a quarter of the battery life, because ARM and the M-Series chips are incredibly power efficient.

I could buy a different laptop but then it wouldn’t work with my phone, tablet, TVs, AirPods, etc, again, making it not worth it.

Complain about Apple all you want, but their hardware and overall UX aren't even close to being matched by other manufacturers.

That doesn’t really solve the problem. Nobody will ever willingly go look for ads, meaning the reach is near zero. Modern marketing has largely moved on from the “reach as many people as possible” to “targeted ads reaching the majority of a demographic”, but the core tenant still relies on reach

They’re constantly popping up on the front page

They do say they’re changing that, so we’ll see if it goes away

E3 was king in the age before widespread social media marketing campaigns. You’d go to those shows to showcase everything to the media to generate hype at one of the biggest events of the year. Those journalists would then go back and write all about it, giving the upcoming projects hype and attention.

Now with social media it’s more effective for brands to run their own campaigns. You can spend millions on an E3 presentation or you can give streamers/YouTubers review copies for free and get a ton of good press.

Once the big companies pulled out it became a lot less attractive to go, then the pandemic seems to have put the final nail in the coffin.

It’s spitting out variations of the statistical results based on your input parameter. It reorganizes ideas and reorganizes the stories it has seen into something else. That’s not transforming the data by adding something new, rather just retrofitting existing data to sound like it’s creating something new

Press X to Doubt

I’m sure it’ll look good, I’m also sure it won’t look like pre-rendered trailers

Chicago isn’t the bastion of desirable place to live. Sure it’s a major city, but it’s really only viable in a few industries and the weather is abysmal.

Look towards either coast and you’ll see more moderate climates being a lot more expensive.

LLMS and Generative AI do not learn like humans and regulating it the same would be disingenuous and completely off base.
