I've had great success in saying I'm cancelling/leaving because I'm moving away. I picked a random area I knew wasn't close to any of their chains and said I loved everything but unfortunately needed to move on. I've had 3 different chains immediately end the contract for me over the phone or in person doing this with no hassle.

The time I tried to quit one to swap to another gym, I had to make 3 calls, email multi-paragraph statements of why I was leaving and wait multiple months before they finally stopped charging me.

True Chicago style is more of a thin crust, like that's what everyone here eats. You had the unfortunate experience of bad deep dish. I call it "guest pizza" cause I only eat it when people from out of town want to try it.

There used to be an app or site called "buycott" or something and you could set what you were trying to avoid(example: avoiding human rights violating companies, avoiding specific companies, morals of certain companies, etc.), and you could scan an item and it would tell you. I used it for a tiny bit years ago but didn't stick with it. Not sure if it's still around.

The entire time I was doing the awkward sad chuckles asking my partner repeatedly if it was for real and no, no ,no while I dragged it around killing it. I judged the parents soooooo hard for it.

There are a few roads in the suburbs that will have something finish getting fixed only for the same exact road to be torn up again for something else cause they didn't coordinate. One time I saw a road get repaved cause it needed it, then half of it was torn back up to do some sort of maintenance, once that was fixed and repaved more of that area got torn up to change out some water stuff and drains, then a year later the whole road is torn up again to be repaved because now it's been 5-6 years and parts of it need it.

Laundry detergent and baby formula are basically currency in some areas I've read.

I would have bet this was gonna be a trailer park boys reference when I started reading but holy shit, it may be a real thing. Meat theft rings

And my first thought to that idea was "ah yes, preserve Danny DeVito for years to come."

Are you about to have another intense burst of compatibility with a girl we never see again?

I thought he would have been older.

Macarons are one I picked up a few years back. I'd be damned if I'm paying almost $3 for a cookie after my niece asked for some at the store. I went home, compared recipes and had a few dozen in front of her that night. They're time consuming, but much of the time is waiting for them to set, which is perfect for my ADHD ass cause I just forget about them for 30 mins to a couple hours. It's a skill that has definitely paid off, and I love giving them to everyone who has never tried one because of the price.

Fair warning with Chicago, it may look cheaper but taxes are much higher than Dallas, along with everything in general. Not trying to sway you, it's a gorgeous city. But, the L has been kinda crappy the past couple years and the winters will be a drastic change taking public transit. There's tons of job opportunities and plenty of ways to go cheaper here, so I recommend it if you think it would work for you, but plan for it to be more expensive than you think.
