Now, imagine you live on the NORTHERN border of the US, and you still hear rhetoric like that you’ve quoted from the article from your political representatives. This is shit I see almost once a week from my US representative living on the red side of Washington State.
Never mind that a) we’re literally as far as one gets from the southern border, and b) the rural farmers out here rely on immigrants for their labor. It is truly baffling to me how this is a top 5 issue for the constituency around here.

How far up your ass does your head have to be to not see that your party is practically driven by conspiracy theories and falsehoods after the last decade?? I don't know how many comments I've seen where people lament the loss of their family members to the disinfo that has gripped a considerable number of our supposed "fellow" countrypersons. Disinfo works, and it is fucking REAL to those that have fallen into it.
It makes me think of people who say they don't understand why advertisements even exist, as they would "never fall for them". Congrats on being smarter than the ads, but the reason they still exist is because there are A TON of people out there that DO resonate with advertisements. Hell, I can't even remember how many times I went running to my mom asking for the newest Super Soaker or fucking Moon Shoes from Nickelodeon or whatever else stupid shit was being advertised. Advertising worked on me because I was completely susceptible to it, and I believe disinfo works just the same way on those who don't have the critical thinking skills to see it for what it is.
It is truly wild how far cops will go to continue being shitty and not bettering themselves. Not surprising or shocking at this point, but just fucking wild.

A second Republican senator who spoke with The Hill said the growing strength of radical populism “makes it a lot more difficult to govern, it makes it difficult to talk to constituents.”
“There are people who surprise me — I’m surprised they have those views. It’s amazing to me the number of people, the kind of people who think the election was stolen,” the lawmaker said. “I don’t want to use this word but it’s not just a ‘red-neck’ thing. It’s people in business, the president of a bank, a doctor.”
