In the US there was a period of time where it was illegal to export encryption above a certain level, so in a way it has already happened. Dumb has never stopped governments before.

I mean, it is. They keep a list of all your conversations and they are extremely vague about giving a direct reply. Hopefully this does something because, like US congress has itself admitted, they cannot afford to let the same thing happen with advanced AIs that they've let happen with social networks. Transparency needs to be a thing, and not fake "oh yeah I'm all about transparency" then goes out of their way to hide shit under the carpet or gaslight with bullshit when they can't.

Spoken like a true someone who doesn't have secondary side-effects to headache medication.

If you look as religion as padding for the ego instead of an idealistic pursuit, it makes all the more sense.

Those people serve society whereas billionaires do what they wouldn't, milk it for all that they can.

Just to clarify, I created this account at the same time I became aware of https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/554307/Just-wanted-a-warning-Lemmy-World-is-perhaps-worse-than-reddit to avoid risks with my main when making this thread http://web.archive.org/web/20231107221038/https://sh.itjust.works/comment/4632925 . I have already explained why in several threads, but this is the first time he's brought up these accusations directly while evading my concerns regarding the original OP I was alluding to.

This is the first time Antik is accusing me of being this user, but he has also accused me of being someone else here: http://web.archive.org/web/20231107174821/https://sh.itjust.works/comment/5160618 Apparently it is easier to suggest I'm someone else there and now someone entirely different here without providing any evidence than to answer the reply I left hanging in the thread I've linked.

It must be nice to be able to make accusations without having to provide or worry about archiving evidence.

If they wanted to be optimistic about a more independent future, they shouldn't have thrown the seal of quality of their brand name for a quick buck.

Objectively, for such a third party store, their prices are just too expensively normal. If they dropped them instead of giving and paying for free copies of games to people who've shat on their store, they'd probably be in a better position.

The biggest problem that we can realistically overcome is the lifestyle we have all been accustomed to, which is only going to get worse as global conflicts continue to ramp up. The pandemic was a hint, a minor preparation for it, and the results weren't thrilling. Trying to deal with the rich would be more plausible if the outcome, the destabilization of the society they've intertwined with, wasn't so certain.

It's very relatable.

A Netflix series that's more historical than the History Channel, and funny to boot.
