You know what they say : Trombonists do it in 7 positions.

He teased some big announcement coming up : I guess that was saved for the forthcoming RISC-V conference. .

And a couple of new boards coming out next year.

Other than that : only what anyone following RISC-V closely already knows... Android is on track for next Summer.

Well... I can harbour hopes of a RISC-V version then!

I saw your headline and got excited for a moment, as I've been interested in this product since they announced it.

AFAIK this still needs some developer-work.

Is there a fork of MuseScore too (the same devs, I think)?

Buying a used phone does save resources and stops potential e-waste though.

Plus with an older phone there's more likelihood that an alternative OS is available.

RISC-V Apps (self.riscv)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by 3arn0wl to c/[email protected]

Someone recently asked about RISC-V apps, and someone else asked if there was a list of apps available. I thought it might be a good idea to start one here.

These are some of the apps I'm interested in, that apparently run on RISC-V (I've not tested them because I don't have a RISC-V board yet) :

  • Ardour
  • Audacity
  • Calindori
  • Gedit
  • GIMP
  • Handbrake
  • Inkscape
  • Krita
  • Moment - a Matrix client
  • Nitro
  • qTox
  • Scribus
  • Sphinx
  • Stellarium
  • Tor Browser
  • VLC

I've seen LibreOffice Writer running too.

Podman and Docker also work.

If you know of other apps (and I'm sure there must be), please add them below.

The only difference [from Arm] is that the marketplace is allowed to use these standards without proprietary licences from a controlling company.

A rational, sensible response from Calista Redmond.

Apparently China is "abusing" RISC-V! I simply don't understand the mentality. :/

Beagle-V Ahead (self.riscv)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by 3arn0wl to c/[email protected]

Hi

Does anyone have a Beagle-V?

Does it come with a pre-installed OS?

Is there a Debian image for it??

TIA

China, apparently, accounts for 24% of Arm's revenue. They're pushing RISC-V.

Qualcomm, one of Arm's largest customers, is pushing RISC-V.

Samsung also has RISC-V cores in its SoCs.

Broadcom wants into the NXP, Qualcomm, Bosch RISC-V consortium too...

Where's MediaTek?
