Noisy little shits aren't they?

[–] AchtungDrempels 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah. When they first showed up in my garden they were only like four, and then every year it seemed like they were getting two more, i started to worry that it's going to end up in a big group, but it seems like this group is not getting bigger than ten birds. I still can enjoy the noise of a small group like that.

My parents kept these things as pets when I was a kid. Those ones were awful. Screeching bloody murder day and night. They'd bite if you tried to handle them. And they didn't sing, they just shrieked like goddamn banshees. Just awful creatures.

They are pleasantly colorful, though, from far enough away.

lol ya i'm quite happy that they're living in the garden, not in my kitchen.

Somebody on my block used to have a grey parrot, oh my god it was so loud, it was imitating the other birds around. Took me a few days to figure out who actually made these sounds, i first thought it was just some neighbour being funny.

These are quite common in Greece and especially Athens. Although pretty they are also quite noisy.

The are not naturally grreknbirts but invasive breeds that seem to come from the pet trade. They are quite good at adjusting though

I love those colourful birds. i hope they make their home in many more german citys ^^ (and hopefully in mine soon)

Yeah i love having them around. And i'm glad that it's no more then like ten of them in my garden, there are some spots in the city where there's a ton of them and they make a lot of noise, haha. In autumn they're sitting in this tree non stop snacking all the seeds for about a week or two, that is always a good time.

Are those native to Germany?

[–] AchtungDrempels 7 points 11 months ago

No, they're native in Asia and Africa. But they have been living here since the eighties or something. They are under supervision if they are harming the native fauna and flora but so far i think that is not the case.
