Terrible news. You hate to see anyone go down hurt, but especially a cornerstone talent like Kenny.
Especially since he's already been out for so long with injuries in the past. My man needs a break.
Hope it's not anything too horrible but the 'indefinitely' is...yeah.
Could be a lot worse. And I'm sure he will come back from it eventually. But yeah, the timeline for that is all over the map, so that's probably why they said indefinite.
Fucking oof.
That runs in my family. Earlier this year I had to drive 4 hours to take my dad to the hospital and they put two units of blood in him immediately and at least one more over the next day.
In 2006ish his dad and brother had to drive him 8 hours out of the mountains on a hunting trip to get him to the hospital where he ended up needing parts of his digestive tract removed.
I'm assuming that's the case here if he's out indefinitely and srs is correct on what's wrong. My dad ignored the pain too and it ended up necrotic which is why stuff got removed.
I know healthcare in America is a good way to go bankrupt but don't ignore chronic pain. You'll just end up with a bigger bill in the end.
Ah shit, my dad had this too, it's a fucking crapshoot how long it takes to get fixed. Sucks.
I wanted the Golden Jets stuff to end but not like this :(
it hurts to be a kenny omega fan 💔
i hope he's not in pain soon :(
I wish wrestlers would stop pushing past the pain. Just rest without breaking yourself. We want to see you good long term.
It isn't brave to sacrifice yourself. It's dumb and not good for the wrestlers or their fans.
Might be a consequence of the contract structure, too. Isn't WWE, for example, treating their talent legally as independent contractors?
"Legally" independent contractors.
Legally employees until you wanna spend the money in court to get it overturned on an individual basis lol.
But it's doubtful contract terms and stipulations would have anything to do with it. A contract can't legally force you to neglect your own health, nor would a single wrestler worth their salary be willing to sign such a contract as it would be..well stupid.
When you're wrestling, pain can be a constant thing, especially when you have a history of high-level wrestling and are increasing in age. Get banged up on a Monday, you'll still be sore on a Friday but the show goes on if you aren't actually injured. The more you do it year after year (and keeping in mind lots of wrestlers are really fucking stupid), you end up ignoring the little things until they can pose to be bigger problems. Hell I'm not a wrestler and even I do that shit (hence my bad....well name it.)

Point is this pressure to keep on pushing is structural.
