I know The Creator wasn't perfect but it certainly deserved better than it got. Spider-Man: into the spider-verse was came the winner but I still am not convinced that that was the best science fiction movie of 2023

My vote is for They Cloned Tyrone. That movie was hilariously awesome. Or I hear Godzilla minus one is pretty good.

I absolutely love that Barbie, a movie which, at first glance, would seem to live as far as possible from Fantasy or Science Fiction land, turns out to actually be a science fiction movie.

...but it ain't because they go to space, as the article reasons.

Barbie is a science fiction movie because it's speculative. What if you were actually a doll living in a world dreamt up by a kid? What if, one day, you woke up and realised there was a bigger world outside?

That's why Barbie is a sci-fi movie, not because they go to space.

I'm not even sure I expected better from you, ign, you were always a bunch of jocks disguised as nerds

Yeah, I see Barbie as a sort of Urban Glitz Fantasy.
