Hello everyone!

I set up a pi-hole yesterday. I initially wanted to block youtube ads on my samsung tv but thought it was a good thing all around and I had an old raspberry collecting dust in the basement, so i just went for it. The installation worked fine and it seems to be blocking ads as supposed. But not the youtube ads. I only read about this being an issue on pi holes later. So I went on and added this list to mi pihole by following the steps as recommended. But yet, I still get a lot of ads through yt. Can somebody help me please?

You can't block those with DNS. IIRC they're set in protobuf, outside of the scope of DNS.

What a bummer. Managed to install newpipe on a secondary device now. Better than nothing I guess.

I will definetely keep the pi hole installed, so if you have any suggestions for me (a non IT-person), they're highly welcome!

I can't stand the ads either. I use SmartTube to watch YouTube content on the TV and I almost much never watch on a computer/phone. NewPipe or Vanced is the way to go and apps like these are the only way you're getting rid of the ads on YouTube. Keep the pihole around though!
