I do think it's strange that we've yet to announce a new contract if he was going to be staying on. I do think that Ten Hag's positive reinforcement of DeGea in recent months was mainly to keep his confidence up for the run in, if he really wanted to keep him, we would have signed off on it wouldn't we? Or maybe I don't understand multimillion pound contracts. Which is likely.

I think since it's a significant pay cut (reportedly) and no guarantees of being number 1 the negotiations are dragging on.
I think I remember even for his last deal when he pushed for such a high salary the negotiations went on for a while if I remember right.
- First real confirmation of Saudi interest in De Gea
- Sounds like weโll sign a goalkeeper regardless of his status
Before the FA cup final I was a little hesitant about the need for a new GK but my god. We really need to move on now. DeGea has been our hero for a large part of his career. Some sublime saves but distribution and commander of his box is a killer to a PL title now.
Didn't expect that I would be hoping for Saudi clubs to save us from a mistake, but here we are. Take De Gea and let us find an alternative for the next years, preferably Costa or Onana.
