Pikmin

I completed 2 and 3 but never had the chance to play 1 so I was pretty happy that Nintendo released 1+2 for Switch.

It took me 15 days and 90 deaths and overall I enjoyed the game. Some design decisions made me scratch my head though, like Pikmin randomly tripping or Sheargrubs becoming invincible while eating a Pikmin.

Pikmin 1 also felt more difficult than the sequels. Fiery Blowhogs don't shoot for as long as they do in later entries meaning they shake your Pikmin off much faster. Snagrets and Beady Long Legs are a lot more difficult to kill without losing any Pikmin.

The game also felt pretty short, which increases its replayability I guess.

Pikmin 1 was the first Nintendo game I ever completed, back on my friend’s GameCube. I failed my first run, with something like 28 parts by 30 days and 700+ deaths. I remember screaming at the snagret. I bought my own GameCube for Pikmin. Fast forward a few years, and I completed a no death run in 16 days. I played it this week on the Switch, and although I was rusty, finished in 15 days with under a hundred deaths. I still love it. Definitely the hardest of the series though!
