I'm using the app Jerboa for Android to access this whole Lemmy koopa situation. when I use the search function and it shows me communities, am I searching all of the communities that exist?

Also cheers! Hi everyone and fuck Spez!

Mostly, yeah.

But some communities in instances that haven't been accessed by anyone from your own yet won't show up iirc (shouldn't be much of an issue on popular instances).

And the ones that do - only show the number of subscribers from your own instance, and not the overall count. For now at least.

You can use lemmyverse.net to search across all instances and see the total sub count. I hope this gets integrated into Lemmy itself at some point.

Also, try wefwef.app, Connect for Lemmy, and Liftoff for Lemmy; they're also great.

I'll add Thunder as a good option at the moment. Feels a bit snappier than some of the other alternatives, and Liftoff has a compatibility issue with some instances.

Wefwef is a great Apollo clone. I am also experimenting with Mlem and MemmyApp (iOS Beta right now). Sorry I don’t have the links but a Bing search should find them. (Fuck google)

Why not use DuckDuckGo? Searching with bangs are an incredible feature

Ah, awesome, thanks for this. Yeah, seems like the biggest stopping block for a more streamlined UX experience.

Yup. There's an issue on the GitHub about it already, and needs to be a thing asap imo

Yes, it's not clear if I'm looking across all instances or what. Hoping this takes off but this sort of thing is whatll make adoption hard for many people.
