That Willian signing is still a real head scratcher years later

Experienced proven PL winger who was relatively inexpensive, and has shown at Fulham he was still up to scratch. Who knows why he didn't fit in here but it's easy to see how he could've. Much of the team was dysfunctional at the time, so I don't really have a grudge. I think a lot of people wanted us to play youngsters over him, but who knows what was happening in training etc to hold that up. The darkest timeline would be a career ending injury to someone like ESR or Martinelli because they were pushed too hard too soon.

Reckon he's out this season then? I'd love to see him have his xhaka arc

Just don’t see where he fits in this system tbh, probably best for all involved if he moves on

Pepe seems like a really good guy. There's no malice or bitterness. I hope he can kick on with his career and find a good club.

Surprisingly favorable words from Pepe. I guess it’s true, he’s the opposite of an Arteta-style winger.

So much of what goes on as a professional athlete are these little interactions behind the scenes that can make or break careers. It’s very interesting to see how even in the small places, players go out of the way to give Arteta the benefit of the doubt, even when it’s clear that he was making mistakes.

Sad it didn’t work out, but from most interviews etc he’s always seemed like a hard working guy. It is what it is but I don’t hold any Ill will towards him. Not his fault our previous regime was so dumb with their evaluations (even possibly corrupt).
