Let's go Lemmy!
Reddit Was Fun
Memorial to "rif is fun for Reddit" Android app, aka "reddit is fun", shut down after June 30, 2023
Best social media app I've ever used. Maybe lemmy can fill the reddit sized hole in my day.
Thanks for the great years Jay. I'll probably give Tildes a try when you release an app for it.
Thanks for all the fish!
Thank you @talklittle for all your work, as many others said here, RIF was probably the most used app I had and it was my main tool used for Reddit. All the best man.
Seriously great app. Been using it for years and it's done everything I've ever needed it to. Signed up just to say thanks for all your work.
What a sad day. I used RIF for nearly 10 years
Farewell RIF. I just deleted it. Hopefully it can be recreated as a frontend to one of the new potential replacements.
Although I was a Sync user, I played around with RIF quite a bit. I'm going to miss it, but looking forward to seeing what you do with tildes and lemmy.
Loved RIF, was simple, easy to use with nothing stuck in it that wasn't useful. It was the only app I ever used to browse Reddit. thanks for everything, I miss it already
RIF has been the only phone app I've ever known for reddit. I was part of the Digg migration, so it feels like I'm doing it again. RIF will be missed.
This is going to be a whole new world for me. I'm excited to see what happens post reddit TPAs.
Goodbye old friend.
Thank you for such a great app, it made reddit usable for me and really helped me out in terms of accessibility.
Thanks for everything! I'm going to miss reddit, but I'm going to miss RiF even more. Best of luck to you all!
Great app, thanks for the work over the years!
I'm on my throne right now nobody around and I'm typing this just like I would do on Rif . DAM! It was a good run!
I have really enjoyed your app, and am sad that era of my life is over. It is really what got me into Reddit so much. Sure I moved over from Digg, but was only a light user till RIF.
I know you will do a great job with the tildes app, and maybe someday I'll get an invite over there.
Thanks so much. Have fun over at Tildes. Don't have an invite for there yet
I got one 2 weeks ago and checked it out, it's not for me tbh. The way communities work over there is that you can't just create a communtiy (basically a subreddit), it has to be created by admins when a topic sort of organically grows out of an existing community. So it's a cool idea i guess but it won't have the same vibe of anyone can create anything that reddit had.
Do you want an invite? I'm a member and can invite you if you want
Thank you, Talklittle. Thank you for absolutely everything.
Reddit was fun while it lasted. There's some things I must still use it for, but I'm hoping to make a full switch otherwise later on. I refuse to use the official app.
Thank you for everything.
I'm going to miss RIF so much. It's been part of my daily life for longer than I care to think about. I wish you'd do a kbin app but I understand it's probably a bit saturated at this point. Everyone is racing to get a good app out. I wish you all the best with Tildes. Thank you so much for all the work you put in over the years
I hope we get a decent mobile app here soon
Thank you, RIF was my main source of entrainment for 11 years. I guess you can say all good things come to an end, and RIF was most definitely something I enjoyed.
Reddit has made it clear that profit is above all and users be damned. I say launch your IPO and let us watch the firey demise of what was once a good platform. Reddit will become a glorified hell hole of corporate shills (1000x worse than it is now). This may be a blessing in disguise, and create new opportunities for the development of better apps, like an app for Lemmy!
Anyway, rant is over, and thank so so so much for RIF. I cant wait to see what you develop next!
I'm convinced that there is more going on behind the scenes. Like Twitter was gutted recently, reddit follows. The ones with power don't like the masses having as much access to information and the ability for like minded individuals to talk with each other. Elon Musk was a scapegoat as is Spez now in an effort to shape global access to information.
