Excellent article. I do wish that the author had made the point ‘the plotters ultimately failed, due in no small part to the strength of the domestic and international communist movement’ clearer in the rest of the essay, but perhaps I overlooked something.

Note that J.P. Morgan & Co. also directly influenced Fascist Italy’s economy and were instrumental in erasing most of its war debt to the U.S.

Whoaaaa I didn't know that. So fkn weird that even after WW2 started, the US govt protected US capital interests in germany and italy too.
