Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!

About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

Calvin and Hobbes is a daily American comic strip created by cartoonist Bill Watterson that was syndicated from November 18, 1985, to December 31, 1995. Commonly cited as "the last great newspaper comic",[2][3][4] Calvin and Hobbes has enjoyed broad and enduring popularity, influence, and academic and philosophical interest… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_and_Hobbes

Hi everyone :) First of all thanks for being part of the C&H community here on Lemmy!

As you may have noticed, I've been posting a few strips a day and I've gotten comments to slow it down. I hear you and do not worry, there is a method to the madness.

Ideally I would have started this community and postings to match the release date of the comic. For example, the first strip was released on 18 Nov 1985 and ideally I would have posted that one on 18 Nov 2022. Unfortunately that didn't happen, so I'm playing catch up right now.

Please bear with me, it will be well worth it and a much better experience in the long run.

Ps. When are we going to see everyone's C&H tattoos???

For what it's worth, I didn't think it was too much at all!

Thanks Klanky. Seems like the early ones are not as big of a deal to fly through, as most of us have seen them a bizallion times.

I do want to get on schedule matching the release dates, even just for nostalgias sake. As a kid I remember making sure to ask my Dad for the paper everyday to see C&H. Really sucked when I missed a day. Then I got my first C&H book some years later and I was finally able to catch up on the ones I missed.

Thanks for making this community. I left Reddit when the protest happen, and didn't go back. I have been learning the Fediverse and how to add communities and finally fround C&H. Thank you.

I wouldn't mind if you sped up! Really enjoying re-reading the strips :)

Also waiting for people to post their Hobbes plushie creations lol

Yeah I'm surprised we haven't had any plushie creations posted yet or tattoos for that matter. I'm sure we'll get them soon enough.

Glad this community is moving to Lemmy. I miss the Reddit community, but I won't go back. Things are starting to settle in over here and I like it
