I wonder how this will affect people. Metal plate printing services for cars that can't pass inspection next?

There will still be emissions inspections in metro areas. But yeah. My first thought was that they're getting rid of inspections, too.

In case anyone's curious about how this can work in practice, Arizona started doing this a few years ago. I don't have a link handy, but as I recall, it was pretty much a nonstory. I looked it up because they'd gone with random strings of letters and digits to avoid exhaustion for decades as part of it, and those stuck out on the road.

The article talks about dealers, what about Tesla? They seem to the main offender already and they don’t have dealers so…?
