Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Summer interns starting today, why do I do this to myself?

Update: this year’s crop is great! I am so tired.

I think it's kind of you.

Ooh I remember when we used to get interns. Was sort of like the zoo - seeing all them come through. I thought it used to break the monotony a bit :)

Happy Monday! Yesterday we sent the kids off with their grandmother and spent the whole day tidying. Got so much junk out of the kids rooms and none have even noticed.

Spent the weekend tidying the house to make it nice for when its actual owner arrived back. Very tired and slept 12 hours but it was a success.

Trying to help the poor lemon tree, who split badly in the last storm and has borer. Only one more step to go for now which is wax in the holes, but next winter I hope we can cut the rot out.

Beautiful day today here. Not sure why but it always surprises me that blackbirds can have such beautiful songs.

I guess when I lived in Aucks they were busy imitating car alarms and stuff, but here in provincial suburbia our local pair sound lovely.

That lemon tree is lucky to have you! If it was at my house it would be dead by now 🙁

Birds here make sounds that are very similar to the timer on our oven going off. I guess we might have trained them to sing like that 😄

Something living nearby has learned to imitate the sound of the alarm attached to the SOs motorbike and it's been driving him nuts, lol.

If it's been going off enough to teach the birds then the alarm has probably been driving the neighbours nuts!

Funny enough it just goes off when he deactivates it, I guess the birds are just really quick learners.

New team, heaps of reading material. Starting with an 87 page current state document. Whee!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I hope it had a lot of pictures!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No 😞

But I finished it and am now halfway through the 180something page business case. At this rate I'll be done with the background material by next year.

Oh a trick I learnt with business cases, is to just pretend you read it, ask stupid questions that were covered, and blame being new and/or information overload for not remembering it. If there's an executive summary, just read that.

My advice is not always to be taken seriously, and sometimes not even I can tell if I'm serious or not.

Haha Too late, I've read the accused thing. Now I'm reading RFP documents which make the BC seem riveting in comparison.

Was having a fantastic day today. Then my mum came home from work sulking, because I left a fry pan soaking in the sink.

I did make the offer to move out multiple times, but she said to me she could never handle living alone, and doesn't want me to go.

I now have to be a therapist, fitness trainer, and support worker for my mum. This is about as absurd as my life is ever going to get - but I'm up for the challenge. I am ready to rebel against the absurd.

Now that I've conquered my chronic fatigue - I am ready to become a Superhero, and a Machine. Just fix everything wrong with this world, through sheer strength of the Will.

You can do it! You've got this!
