Been cutting back on my water use, but it seems impossible to lower the bill when fees, street cleaning, wastewater, etc all add up to $100 a month. I don’t even know what “clean community service” is, considering all the trash and graffiti I see strewn everywhere in Austin. Is everyone in Austin paying $100 per month for these services?

Ours doesn't hit 3 digits but I agree all the non-electricity fees easily make up almost 40% of our total bill.

Have you ever even tried to find out?! From the program's website, aka the first hit on google:

The Clean Community Fee (which is $5) funds the following:

Street sweeping Litter Abatement Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center Business outreach Austin Reuse Centers Zero waste program development Clean Austin Dead animal collection Boulevard sweeping

Just because you see trash somewhere doesn't mean there aren't actually hundreds of people out there cleaning things. If anything, this fee should be higher so they can pay better wages and hire more people. This is tough work

And I don't think we can answer your question about "paying $100 for these services"...your bill includes electric, water, wastewater, and trash in addition to the fees you're complaining about. List itemized from your bill what you're concerned about and I can tell you how mine compares
