I gotta say Lemmy is hitting in all the right places.. it’s been 2 days and I hardly think about Reddit anymore.. what is Reddit anyway?

[–] tokyou 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My favourite feature on Lemmy is getting to see how many downvotes a post or comment has, rather than have the downvote feature there but no counter.

Reddit be like: 7 upvotes, 3 downvotes, total comment score 5.

This right here. I think it helps to rip the bandage off. I’ve been here for 20 days or so now and the first few were kinda tough. Replacing Apollo with Lemmy on my phone helped with the muscle memory and habit part. Now that we’re building a community, we have fresh content I’ve never seen before and I don’t really miss Reddit at all.

Ironic to post a meme about Reddit to say you don't think about Reddit lmao.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

Yeah, and like half of all posts are about reddit

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

Even if I agree with the sentiment of the meme, you’re right.

[–] rDrDr 5 points 2 years ago

It's aspirational.

Honestly, at the moment, this meme should be reversed. But hopefully in a few months this will be accurate!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

Yes, true! This is why I put "hopefully" :D

Yeah, the amount of reddit-related posts on here kinda shows that people would rather be on reddit. Seems like reddit is living rent free in the minds of quite a lot of people.

[–] Ataraxia 2 points 2 years ago

I don't get why. I have no interest in going back and have not yet I still see a ton of reddit on lemmy.

22 days for me and all I can say is Reddit what...

I love it here.

[–] MaybeFrederick 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lol, half of all the posts here are about Reddit.

[–] nelrico 3 points 2 years ago

Of course it'll be. Most of us are refugees from reddit.

Tomorrow’s the final day for 3rd party apps. Last day for many

I get that it's just a meme, but there is a lot of anti-reddit circlejerk content on Lemmy.

[–] Paria_Stark 3 points 2 years ago

It's actually most of the Lemmy content haha.

It's fine but let's hope it gets lesser and lesser omnipresent.

[–] rDrDr 2 points 2 years ago

To be fair, there's a lot of antirrddit circlejerk content on reddit too.

I didn’t use Reddit during the “Golden era” before the changes and redesign, but I really love Lemmy, the simplicity and feel of community is great. I think I found my new internet home here

[–] couragethebravedog 5 points 2 years ago

It'll be a while before people here move in.

[–] velourium_camper 4 points 2 years ago

I’ve started using lemmy as my go to now. I still have Apollo installed, but once that stops working I won’t be going back to reddit.

[–] netwren 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah unfinished all my feed is right now is anti-reddit memes

[–] ConsciousLochNess 3 points 2 years ago

It feels so weird to think I used to confine myself to one single website of forums now when I look back at it.

[–] vintprox 3 points 2 years ago

And! Yet this has been posted here. Irony 🫠

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The lemmy mascot wearing a suit looks really weird/nice to me. Maybe one should make a 3d model or edited image of the mascot wearing a suit without a human skull and skin behind it.

[–] crunchypotat77 2 points 2 years ago

I just wish there were fully developed apps ready for it. I'm using mlem but it also is missing quite some features for now. Once that's done, it's goodbye reddit.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Just finished unsubbing from everything, won't be going back

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 years ago

IMO I think Reddit is living just a little too rent free on Lemmy (and the rest of the fediverse). People should be deciding whether or not to leave Reddit for their own sake, if the platform no longer suits their interests and values, not to protest or "stick it to Spez" or anything. They have already made it clear that no amount of protesting or anything else will convince them of anything, so don't waste your effort.
