In the spirit of the Ancient Greek Agora, we invite you to join our vibrant community - a contemporary meeting place for the exchange of ideas, inspired by the practices of old. Just as the Agora served as the heart of public life in Ancient Athens, our platform is designed to be the epicenter of meaningful discussion and thought-provoking dialogue.

Here, you are encouraged to speak your mind, share your insights, and engage in stimulating discussions. This is your opportunity to shape and influence our collective journey, just like the free citizens of Athens who gathered at the Agora to make significant decisions that impacted their society.

You're not alone in your quest for knowledge and understanding. In this community, you'll find support from like-minded individuals who, like you, are eager to explore new perspectives, challenge their preconceptions, and grow intellectually.

Remember, every voice matters and your contribution can make a difference. We believe that through open dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to discovery, we can foster a community that embodies the democratic spirit of the Agora in our modern world.

It seems like the mod has abandoned the community and none of the posts seem like a very good look for our instance. [email protected]

I like conspiracy theories, there are some very original and fun ideas, I treat it more like fiction and what if's. I don't think it's an issue of content as long as it followed what looked like pretty clean rules.

Honestly I'll take it over the community if nobody wants it. I could fill that community with some mostly harmless shizo content.

In general, is there value in having a garage collection policy for abandoned communities? For example, any community without a mod for 30 days gets removed.

In this specific case I wish someone would take it over and turn it into a conspiracy satire community like r/topminds.

Report the ones that break the rules, like the Matt Walsh vid, otherwise it's a dead abandoned community, let them keep the post directing people elsewhere. I'm guessing the few people who were there fucked around and found out by getting banned. Seems like the moderation rules worked and took out the trash.

I see that this community's posts are all downvoted. Doesn't it shows our stance regarding that type of content?

And since it's a dead community, keeping it up will probably make conspiracy theorist go to another instance instead pf creating a new one. After all, who really post on communities which no one goes to or blocks?

I opened the link to see one thing. Last post time to now. The last post was 12 DAYS ago.

  • if someone cannot understand this is no longer active then I'm sorry
  • if this was active and people associate a single community with the output of an entire instance then I don't think the fediverse will survive. Your instance surviving isn't the fediverse, it's your echo chamber. We need all instances that aren't blatantly un-human. We cannot get in the habit of wanting to remove a community just because we disagree. Go post there. Take over the community if abandoned. Give.

I would have not known about this community if not for you.

100% sarcasm past this

So you made an alt account to draw notice that your community is not being shunned so you can get it shunned so you can show the conspiracy in this instance as it relates to communities and gather followers in another conspiracy community.

It shows up in the 2nd page if you look at local communities. I volunteer you to be a mod since you feel so strongly about keeping inactive communities around. Give.

I feel strongly about setting a precedent of removing communities for whatever reason

As someone who moderates one of the larger communities on this instance I think we should be proactive in not giving other instances a reason to defederate from us. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The bar seems to be set unreasonably low. I think the last popular 'de-federate sh.itjust.works' post was about a week old community with 1 member and 25 comments.

If the administration team's bar for de-federation is that low then there likely isn't much that we can do.

That being said, according to this post: https://sh.itjust.works/post/139351 The creator has decided to move their community to another instance so the community is abandoned at this point and probably will be cleaned up eventually.

I wouldn't mind taking the community, I could make that community work with mostly harmless content. My name is based on a conspiracy theory. I was built for this.

You could have just offered to moderate it. Instead they reached out to me to try and help.

Your welcome to moderate over on https://sh.itjust.works/c/[email protected]

I don’t see this as a competitive space. Would appreciate anyone who is willing to contribute.

Or, just make your own community.
