Is it really fascist to want kids to not be exposed to pornographic material :I
This is not actually about pornographic content. Florida already had laws to protect from actually obscene material.
Drag queen story time and drag acts that do not contain nudity are not pornographic.
Correct. Misleading wording like this is how they manage to trick ignorant people into supporting hateful laws like this one - assuming they're not supporting these laws precisely because they're hateful.
The LGBTQ+ community (including drag queens) absolutely and unequivocally does NOT support pedophilia in any form. This includes exposing children to pornographic material. That's fucking canon and you can quote me on that shit.
There's some videos floating around of drag shows with sensual dancing with children present. I'm not saying all Drag presentations are like this, but maybe the law should've been more specific to these kinds of situations.
Or, very unorthodox idea I know, but how about parents check what kind of show they're attending with their children?
This is exactly it. It's about parental responsibility. You wouldn't play a movie for a child without checking the rating. And, if you do, it's not the director's fault that little Timmy saw The Virgin Suicides.
The movie thing is also quite an apt example. It is totally legal for a child to see an R-rated movie with their parent. R rated movies are allowed to have nudity, simulated sex scenes, etc etc etc. Much more inappropriate for a child than being read an age-approriate story by a drag queen or seeing someone in drag dancing and singing on stage. But this law about drag performance makes no exceptions for parental responsibility. A parent could conceivably be convicted of a misdemeanor for taking their child to a family friendly drag show.
And they do, parents who actually take their kids to story tone or shows aren't the ones that are upset.
The people who are upset (terrified) are grandma death and uncle Karl. They live in kansas, they've never seen or spoken to an actual trans person, yet they open their trash can lids slowly because they think one is inevitably "gonna jump out and bite 'em!". Ignorance is a plague.
Trans people are people.

You're speaking of vapor, that said there are always single sensationalized "examples" that have nothing to do with the common reality for every argument by hollow, frightened, bigots.

there are already laws to protect kids from that sort of content, and most drag performers probably wholeheartedly agree that they should be enforced, whether it’s for a drag show, a kids magic performance, or story time at preschool
Where were you complaining about Broadway shows before this right wing talking point came into focus? This isn't pornographic. You've never been to a trash show and you don't know anyone in this community. You're frightened of what you don't know and you scream it with ignorant comments like this.

I was raised Catholic and I knew these stories and was taught them in general church before I knew what sex was. Be honest, it's not anything to do with obscenity. It makes you feel uncomfortable because someone told you to feel uncomfortable about it. You want to regulate someone else's life and their choices because you took that bait, hook line and sinker.
should we ban kids from catholic church? after all do we want kids to be molested?
They should have written a law that explicitly does that then, and not what they did.
Child molestation has been illegal. Using your first amendment rights aren't.
Still waiting for them to ban children from going to Church given all the priests who have molest children.
