Explanation: You are looking at communication pathways between different regions of the brain ("cliques").

On the left, people were given a placebo. Their brain cliques mostly communicated within themselves. On the right, people were given psilocybin, the psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms. We see their brain cliques start communicating across the board, making connections like those not seen with a placebo.

This likely explains the presence of synesthesia that can be experienced during psychedelic "trips."

Isn’t it? We know so little about our brains in general and definitely about the effect psychedelics have on them. What we do know is freaking cool indeed.
