It was placed on the National Historic Registry in 1986.

Question- what the hell is the purpose of the National Historic Registry if we're just gonna demolish portions of the buildings anyway? And for nothing more than a damn highway at that.

I wonder if there is a provision in the Registry that says only a certain portion has to remain "as it was" for it to be modify-able. Also of course they'd muck it up for a highway, look at that spaghetti that it is sitting next to. It remind me of a youtube channel "not just bikes" or something that did a whole episode about bad road design, and the thumbnail was literally a picture of the I71 and I75 interchange at the foot of the bridge.
