Wagner mercenaries are committing widespread atrocities including murder, rape and torture against civilians in the war-torn state, says a new report.

Wagner has been a human rights disaster in Central African Republic for several years now. There have been a number of UN reports about this. Hopefully it will get more attention now.

Worth noting that:

Wagner was invited there by the President and supports CAR's current government who wanted them to prop up his regime
Russia wanted them there to protect the interests of Russian mining companies eg Lobaye Invest
Lavrov has just come out and publically assured CAR and Mali that the coup attempt doesn't change anything for them and they can still keep Wagner troops
Biden administration is signalling fresh sanctions against Wagner in CAR
