I'm a frugal person. Always have been, always will be.
I used to get tee shirts from fruit of the loom. Then 6ish years ago, I started ravaging kohls for their bogos on $12 solid-color shirts and clearance button downs (I'm talking $10 for a shirt that was $40). It's a very slight upgrade and still pretty cheap.
Last year, however, I said fuck it and went to an honest to god men's clothing store. Their solid color tees were $20, but if you buy three it's $40. Idk what had possessed me that day to even go to the store, much less buy the clothes but I did.
For the t shirts: the quality difference is immaculate. They're thicker and softer, yet just as light. The colors haven't faded or gotten grimey. I finally understand what advertisers mean when they "breathable."
Same goes for the button downs, shorts, etc.
Just went back to that store last week and my year old shirt is just as soft and colorful as the ones they had out, even though mine had gone through a year of laundry and general activities. Quality stayed.
The same cannot be said for the Kohl's shirts. Those are now my gym wear. They wore down so much quicker, like a matter of months. They are more rough and just icky since then. Colors got more ass after every wash.
I'm telling ya, if you can afford the clams for quality, do yourself a favor and buy the quality that will last. This year I'm going for underwear as I slowly buy more "darn tough socks" that I know will last me a lifetime. Lmk if y'all have any good boxer brief reccomendations. I just get the Hanes 20pk and I want something nicer.
The comfort is so worth it.
