In unrelated news, new gender neutral bathroom about to be opened in Italy

My favourite berlusconi moment was when a protestor bashed him in the face with a tiny replica of the colloseum.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

That would be a replica of "Duomo di Milano", the central church of Milan. The assaliant was mentally unstable so it wasn't as much a political statement as we'd like.

He still broke his nose though.

It was not the Colosseum, but the Milan cathedral.

Crazy how long he was still active in politics. He could have retired ages ago…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Last 5 years or so he was more like a victim of his own power. I agree tho, he should have retired much more in advance but I guess too many people in his party needed a salary and he was the only one able to keep everyone together.

Couldn't have happened to a better person.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Well, I have in mind a couple but yes, he was bad.

There are already 100 other Berlusconi like people trying to get the power like he had. One passing away doesn't change human nature.

I’m Italian and I didn’t like him. Still his death hurts quite a bit. He’s been around since I was a child, he was always there (probably owning a media company helped). He was well loved by many thanks to owning AC MILAN.

The most similar thing I can think of was the death of Elizabeth II.

Any ideas what the implications might be for the governing coalition? Any chances this will lead to some sort of trouble or realignment?
