TLDR: Apple wants to keep china happy, Stewart was going after china in some way, Apple said don’t, Stewart walked, the show is dead.

Not surprising at all, but sad and shitty and definitely reduces my loyalty to the platform. Hosting Stewart seemed like a real power play from Apple, where conflict like this was inevitable, but they were basically saying, yes we know, but we believe in things and, as a big company with deep pockets that can therefore take risks, to prove it we’re hosting this show.

Changing their minds like this is worse than ever hosting the show in the first place as it shows they probably don’t know what they’re doing or believe in at all, like any big company, and just going for what seems cool, and undermining the very idea of a company like Apple running a streaming platform. I wonder if the Morning Show/Wars people are paying close attention.

Imagine what a power play it would be for HBO to pick it right up.

Yea ... I'd personally like to know how Stewart feels and would love to see some post-mortem from him not least because it's a big general topic with a lot of relevance and also the sort of thing he'd talk about.

Like, he had to have seen this coming, which I'm guessing is why he walked ... he was prepared for the scenario and had already thought it through. So he probably has thoughts.

They already have Last Week Tonight, I doubt they'd go for it.

They worked together once.

Unfortunately HBO is not the same anymore either.

Seriously, I've been expecting Last Week to be canceled any day now.

Or imagine Jon and John both on last week tonight together for a few weeks... Kinda a roundtable discussion... invite a few guests... Maybe they could call it something like Rigid Orb, or Unbreakable Sphere... That would be something.

Nebula could single handedly slay YouTube with many lifetime subscribers, by offering him a deal. I'd get a lifetime subscription immediately

When does he come to Nebula?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That would be HUGE ... someone like Stewart going independent and putting it on the map while also reporting on the importance of being independent ... all in this current moment where big monopolised ownership of platforms/media is in a mainstream crisis ... huge.

you should reach out to nebula with this idea, and also put it in writing that you get 1% cut, and also I get 0.5% cut. Then everyone is happy!

The show is apparently called morning wars in some places.
