I have a Linux "console", but it runs ChimeraOS instead. I have some of the same issues, like each game having the resolution default to the Steam Deck's (1280 x 800). I didn't experience some of the other issues that he had because ChimeraOS configures these correctly from the start. I think it is worth if if you are primarily a PC gamer, due to keeping the same library and sharing saves.

I have my main build with an AMD GPU, and a secondary build with an Nvidia GPU, I want to use that as a Steam console but I'm afraid none of the Steam focused distros work with it. And even if they would, it would be a complete hassle to manually make it work. I'm thinking of swapping it for an equivalent AMD card, I don't know what to do. Maybe sell it and buy an AMD one? IDK, it's driving me nuts. But I want a Steam console so bad.

What would you do?

I think ChimeraOS does have support for NVidia GPUs, but I am not able to find any documentation on it. If you aren't currently using that build for anything, you can always try to install ChimeraOS on that and see how it works for you. An AMD GPU would be better in terms of out of the box support, but you can still get a decent experience with an NVidia GPU.

The Steam Deck UI can control FSR, I wonder if that integration would work with Nvidia GPUs.

It should work about the same. The games ran from the SteamDeck mode of Steam are using gamescope. The Deck UI then controls how upscaling works within gamescope.

Thanks for the heads up, I guess I'll be trying it then!
